I'm going to laugh if the Pats are good again this year and it turns out all along that it wasn't Brady that was that good, but the Pat's Oline giving him ALL DAY to throw the ball.

They sure did. Anybody else notice how heavily they relied on short timing patterns?

I can't remember the last time I saw so many quick hitches in the first half of a game...

if anything you can say that Cassel is a system QB. He just had to manage the game, much like Ben Rofflesburger.

Had Brady been in the game they would have put the plan in his hands because he can make big plays happen.

System QB's don't win 3 superbowls with mediocre wr's and little to no running game (aside from 04)

But that sets up a no-lose scenario for you. If they suck you can rejoice, but if they succeed you can still rejoice since you'll then assume that Brady was just the guy at that position at the time.

They won yesterday and it was a great game, but they were within the 10 yardline 3 times and left with field goals. Those would have been TD's with Brady.

The pats have a crazy easy schedule, they could win 10 games or so.

What do you think Brady did the first 3 years of his career?

What if they have a great defense?

won two superbowls and superbowl mvp's?

I know what you're driving at but the fact is they had no running game at that time and utilized the screen pass/short passing game in place of a ground game. It seemed to take the league a while to catch onto it so why change what works? They also didn't have any real deep threat at that time. Branch was nice but oft injured.

Give Brady down field targets and he'll have a career year (aka last year).

please provide an example of a recent QB (not a system QB) with superbowl rings that didn't have a great defense the years they won

ehhhh....the first one was questionable....I would have given it to Ty Law.

145 yards and 1 td aren't usually MVP numbers.

I agree....he definitely can throw the ball. He's shown that for the last 4 or so years. Don't get me wrong...I'm not trying to say that Brady is purely a system QB. He could definitely be successful on another team and in another system....maybe not AS successful though.

I don't really understand what you're getting at then. Show me another QB who fits this ideal you're shooting for.

Football is a team game, you need to be good on all sides of the ball to win a superbowl.

Um they all pretty much had great Defenses (except for St. Louis maybe).

They also didn't all have great receivers or a running game....

That's EXACTLY what I'm getting at. You can't say that Brady "won" those superbowls. HE didn't win them, the Patriots did.

That is what I'm getting at.

That "Tom Brady" didn't win 3 superbowls. The New England Patriots did.

uh...is this really an argument? OF course the team won it. I don't think you could have just plugged any QB into that spot though. Brady has won a lot of key games for the pats. Lots of final second drives down the field orchestrated by the QB.

Again if former players and coaches say that Brady is one of the best QB's in the game that holds a lot more weight than what some random dude on the internet things.

I agree (although there are a few).....guess we'll never know though. It'd be interesting to see how Brady looks on a crappy team (like the Texans). We'll probably never know though.

There's no doubt he is good when it really counts.
