Again, just my theory

Bort has been the only coder on the sim of GLB1 for a long, long time (Corndog does some visual/site stuff). Thorn did some stuff early on, but even then everything of significance has always been Bort. Your theory is wrong so stop posting it.

I'm not about to go digging through all the past Q&A's looking for the quote, but it was me that asked the question to Bort.
I asked if something where to happen to him, like untimely death, was there others whom could do the coding.
He assured there was.
Don't mean he wasn't telling a lie though .

Just sayin

But clearly they would prefer it if people migrated to the new game not only because it is more of what Bort envisioned, but because it chews through accumulated flex more quickly. Whether or not they can successfully bring in large numbers of legitimately new customers to GLB2 is anyone's guess. I'm disappointed about GLB1 being undercut since I believe it's finally at the point of being a really good game, but it is what it is and despite how I've been treated I have no particular wish to see GLB2 be unsuccessful.

I have to agree with this...I am substantially impressed with the state of the sim as compared to what it was in the mid 20 seasons and before. Very sad, cuz nobody is left to play it. If hardcore players gave it a second chance, I think they would be impressed this go-round. It just sucked so bad for so long, that most of them are long gone. Looking at the leagues page now it's like "Whoa...This game is a fraction of a fraction of what it was"...and if you consider 2 free players for every agent....Oy vey. If they had rolled out THIS SIM from the first day, this game would be going gangbusters.

I would have never stayed here this long if it was like GLB 2. Once progressions and then the DPC came around that's when I think a lot of us really started to sink our teeth in here.

Progressions was the very best thing that happened to this game (This is from an OC's perspective)...THE VERY BEST THING. DPC is probably the same for DC's. I wouldn't know though...since I don't DC...but for sure progressions. Best improvement ever...Of course, simple argument is that they should have been there all along.

GLB2 imo

GLB1 is pretty much sorted out. there's build guides for everything. now it's basically just having the patience and OCD to see a build through to the end. as far as a shot at a trophy goes, there's an incredibly small number of good coordinators relative to the size of GLB as a whole--that's why WL is so inbred right now. After you clear those 2 hurdles, it basically comes down to luck, or RNG, or rock-paper-scissors, or whatever other label you want to put on it.

GLB2 is at least fairly uncharted territory for a while. I think the long term health of GLB1 is riding on GLB2. There really needs to be an influx of new agent.

The problem here is burnout. Non-casual leagues should cost a tad more and spread games out 1 more day....It's tough to gameplan for a game every other day. It's a game...It should be fun, not work...but there's a balance too. The folks willing to put in the time scouting etc should be rewarded, but enough time needs to be afforded so that everyone has a chance to do so. Add in tourneys to the mix, and good teams will be playing 3 "important" games in 3 days every week. Too much to ask IMO.

If you had a buttload of good competition, you wouldn't be bored. The problem is the game has lost a lot of the awesome agents....If they were here, then the interest would follow. Tough to keep them when you have all the f*cking FUBAR sh*t that has gone on over the seasons.

So Bort is the Steve Jobs of GLB, now that he's dead, they will use up what ideas he had left, then... who knows what comes after that?

cuz apparently the best builds couldn't just be your teams superstars

That's where I'm coming from. I don't care that 99 percent of the time I may not wind up with a "superstar", but if I'm going to be paying to build it, I'd like to know that I've at least got the chance to build one!

I agree with Jiddy's posts above. The sim is a lot of fun now though there aren't enough people to share it with; progressions are what makes OCing fun, there are too few coordinators, and the rapid cycle of games can make it seem like work or a chore.

Often, you game plan because you have to rather than want to. I feel like I owe it to the agents on my teams to give us a shot at winning every game - they've stuck with me, some for years - and paid their money to field dots for my teams. I feel guilty not doing a game plan because I'm tired or "don't feel like it." I think that is what burns people out on this game. Those that don't coordinate tend to get bored with the slow build process.

If GLB 2.0 does a good job of addressing the grind and the slow building process, along with a good sim, it may hold people a bit better than GLB 1.0. It's a fine balance, because many of us who remain here like the intricacies of coordinating. That's the rub - I like being able to set an offense and assign progressions and personnel to specific plays and watch them happen in the sim (especially when the work as intended), but I don't like being required to do so every day, more or less. Perhaps spreading the games out by an extra day would be a good idea. Not sure if everyone would agree (probably not for the non-coordinators).
