My way of recruiting is telling someone we won a silver 2 seasons ago, went 16-0 last season, and had #1 offense when we went silver and #1 defense last season.

GG

still lose dots to casual

What are you confused about? Doesn't matter about how good or bad your team is...no one wants to play for you

I've usually done pretty well with recruiting, often landing a good dot with about five or six PMs per position. Most of them have stayed with me for multiple seasons, often until decline. In the PM, I explain a little about the team. If we have been doing well in the lower leagues I point that out, but I don't blow it into anything big because I follow it up with the fact that we build for plateau. Good agents really want a shot at success in the end game, but also want to have a little fun along the way. If an offensive skill position, I describe how I will use the dot. If a D player, I hype my DC (or let him do the recruiting if he has the time). I point out that all of the agents on the team are there for the long-haul and explain why I need to replace a dot so I don't sound contradictory. Provide a team link, thank them for their time, offer to answer and questions, and say that I hope to have them aboard.

Given my more sedate and serious tone in these PMs compared to yours, jampy, I tend to target agents with player names and screen names/avatars that indicate they may be more like me. I try to get a read on an agent by the names and pictures he chooses and target those that seem like they would mesh with my style. Your style is different and would probably not work well with most of the agents I work with. There are lots of agents here with styles like yours and I'm sure many of them build good dots too.

If you didn't know me from having teams in the same leagues and I sent you a PM like the above, you'd probably think I'm a boring snoozefest that doesn't have the energy to win. If I got one from you, I would think you're... not my kind of team owner or coordinator (I really do not mean that as an insult).

Oh, and if a dot's ad provides any instructions for how to recruit them (salary) or contact them (PM preferred/hated), I follow it to the letter. If I don't like it, I move on and don't waste anyone's time, including my own.

EDIT: I should point out that my better recruiting is done in the minors. I don't know that I have the track record to recruit so well in Natty Pro or WL, but thankfully when I've been at or close to those levels, I haven't had to do too much recruiting.

EDIT EDIT: This post is almost three times longer than my recruiting PMs. For what that's worth.

^Understood.

You made a comment about your serious tone, and I think that may be a deal breaker. Obviously, I am trying to recruit agent's who will fit into the forum (the forum that is molded after my sense of humor and my selection of GMs), so I feel all recruitment efforts should fall in line.

I could send out a super srs PM, but ik that has not worked out in the past, and in fact, I have had very bad experiences with agent's who just aren't 'my type' like you were saying in your 3rd paragraph.

But, what amazes me is the people not even giving it a chance

Like Robbn said earlier, he would join a Mhayes team over mine, 10 times out of 10.
Ik Mhayes pretty decently, as we exchanged quite a few words when we were in rookie,
and knowing him, and looking at that GM cast, their is no way his forum is any better then mine, talkless about his Owner/OC skills.

Ik when I created Blues, I found a few agents who fit in PERFECTLY, and now are regulars in my group of contacts, and have even created dots for other teams of mine etc. etc.

But for someone to not give it a chance because I am Jampy, just doesn't make sense.
