Should you create your player on the last day of the previous season...boost....and then boost again in the preseason?

Build around day 40, then boost 3X before roll over of day 48 to next season. To reach level 19, wait till play-offs to boost again 3X the following season. (I prefer to wait till around day 48 again myself) Then when you reach level 22 boost 3X again. after that you can boost 3X on day day 0 (zero) of each of the following seasons.

Well this is what I prefer to do, others may suggest otherwise. My understanding is you do not need to boost the first season between day 40 and day 48, as long as you boost 3X each following season, you will get the boosts needed at day 281 or so to reach level 79, that is as long as you have consistantly boosted 3X every season afterwards.

You'll get to Level 79 this way, sure. But you'll also be 2-3 levels behind everyone else your age UNTIL you hit Level 79.
