I've been going to just 8 on them for a while now, but wonder - after catch22's comment - if that is good now.

Opportunity cost.

This thread has resulted in some info that was unbeknownst to me, but it won't change much (if anything) re: individual builds. It all depends what one wants out of a build IMO.

ETA: btw, thanks yello

So, what does that do to the Coverage LB tree where you have one of each (a bouns and a penalty) per side.

Oh, that's right. LB SA tree is still horrible. Or is that just want the masses believe? Time to take the offseason to rethink building dots

truth! The tree is a monstrosity and only works for a true hard hitting, run stopping, middle LB...

As far as the bonus/penalty for archetype SA's, catch has addressed it before. The benefit/penalty being "significant" has always been made public. Part of the problem is that questions like these get answered over and over in the Q&A threads but there's never a consolidation of information in a centralized database. The wiki is incredibly outdated (regarding a lot of topics) and there's only so much scrolling and searching people are willing to do before they just ask the same question again.

I applaud the effort Cort22 (this plays into the conspiracy theory that they're now the same person) has put into editing and condensing the Q&A threads for ease of reading but ultimately, someone needs to extrapolate that data and keep a single, updated source that's easy to navigate and doesn't rely on external scripts.

Condensed version? The game needs meaningful documentation.

how about consolidated then, searchable, and indexed?

something other than 55 Q&A threads and a handful of admin announcements with sometimes confusing or even contradictory information.

You know what one of the most common things posted, regarding X issue, when discussing aspects that are unclear?

"I know Bort answered that somewhere. Let me see if I can find the post"

Every Q & A is entered into a searchable database (and always has been):

http://www.glbwiki.com/qa/

If there is a topic you want to look up, you merely need to enter a search term and it'll bring up every answer that correlates to that search term.

It's not very helpful in it's current setup tbh and I realize that this is what people are using when looking for bort-stalker answers. I'm looking for the above info (the bonus/penalty concerning SA's for archetypes).

I entered:

Archetype bonus
Archetype penalty
Favored Special abilities
Favored SA
Archetype

The only hit I had was archetype and that brings up every thread that has ever used the word archetype. So, either refine my keywords and keep searching or just dig through the generic "archetype" hits to see if I can find the post.

I just typed in penalty sa and had 8 items return from the search

Well that's the difference I guess. I typed in sa penalty and had 0 returns.

it searches on how people ask the question. If one word is too broad it's best to try several two word options. It's not perfect but it's a hell of a lot better than trying to search through forum threads.
