I get really tired of these "Bail me out because I can't assemble a team of well-built dots" suggestions. Can we shut this down please?

I get tired of fine fellows thinking that every suggestion is all about me. Don't see me bitching to the mods to have them banned and their posts burned to the ground do you?

Just dont click on the thread if you dont like it.

Have you even bothered to look around the game lately? This sh*t simulation is happening in every league at every level. This is a problem for the vast majority of GLB players. Not just me.

Yello1 I am being truly sincere when I say this. so please just take it with a grain of salt. all I ask is for you to go through the suggestions forum and look at the suggestions you have made. I mean really look at them and read them and pretend you weren't the one that made the suggestions. and if you can do that then I promise you would be able to see why alot of us feel your suggestions are solely about you. I am not trying to argue or anything here I am just being totally honest when I say that Yello1 you are your own worst enemy on this game.

yello...from the standpoint of simulating an "NFL-like" game the real issue at play here isnt the concept of L72 vs L79. That works the way it should.

The L72 is like a team made completely of rookies. Now...1 or 2 rookie starters and an NFL team has no issues competing, heck...even 5-10 and they might be reasonable. But not a complete team. Even if you had draft picks #1 thru 55.

The real issue (I think) you are seeing & find annoying is the fact that teams are very linear...and as a result...so are the outcomes of these teams when they play each other. again...this is not the fault of the game simulation imo.

Case in point (and ignoring coordinating to illustrate the point). A top notch GLB pro (or WL, ftm) team is made up of dots that are 1-55 all great players. (Nearly) all of them. They average 79/84 or 79/83 typically. By comparison, the distribution for a top notch NFL team might look more like (roster spots) 1-20 are 79/84 (I know lolEL but work with me here), 21-40 are 79/80, 41-55 are 79/77...or something along those lines.

So the issue (imo) that you describe is because 55 dots built like Aaron Rodgers, Calvin Johnson, Julius Peppers, etc. play against 55 dots built like Luke McCown, Marcus Easley, Austen Lane, etc. And if you are asking who? Thats exactly the point.

Now, I haven't (nor will I) read this entire thread but I think the solution you are proposing is for a different problem. Since this is an MMORPG, the idea of being good at building your character(s) (i.e. your dots) is a critical part of making such a game & would not go over well. What you enjoy doing (it sounds like) is building a team & running the show but not necessarily getting into the gory details of optimizing build strategies. Thats fine...but that is not what this game is.

The only (remotely) reasonable option (and thats if you believe competition is so bad that we need to solve the problem by any means necessary OUTSIDE of dot performance) is to change the way that teams are built. Because Aaron Rodgers does not have Aaron Rodgers backing him up (or at least this level of backup is not common throughout history). And that means essentially a draft when moving to Pro & a real salary cap that ensures you cant afford to have 55 79/84 dots. And since drafts are NGTH, essentially you're left with trying to convince the community that a legit salary cap will help competition. I'm not so certain about that but it is the only potentially viable solution to the linearity you are referencing in competition imo.

Dot builds are not your problem yello. It is coordinating.

I OC this team - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=676

We didn't build very effectively and therefore only have an APV of 1287. OffTopica Miracle has an APV of 1307. So technically, the individual dots are better on your team. But I guarantee you we would beat you 100 times out of a 100, and frankly it wouldn't even be close.

Daily PMS is a concept that should never be suggested in any instance.

Actually, I have to take this back... just noticed you've got jpjn94 as your OC and he's pretty damn good.

We beat you, but you did make a game of it so for that I give you props.

There is a saying that goes "You write what you know".

I suggest about what I see.

Obviously what I see in the game is my experience of the game, and therefore the basis for my suggestions.

I see a game filled with alot of flaws. Flaws that create unbalanced not terribly enjoyable play. This is aggravated by documentation and a UI that seems almost bent on secrecy over content and usefulness. Its like the Soviets designed the interface, its just nutty how bad it is.

That is the basis for my suggestions. Not to make my teams do better. That is an idiotic thought. If I cared that much about winning, I would have quit, not made suggestions that are almost certainly not going to be implemented or if implemented only after months. Its just foolish to think this is all about ME.

Its about what I see is wrong with the game.

Add to that some chrome ideas for stuff I think would just be cool, and that is all there is too it. I do not really give a crap about winning the game. I just want to enjoy playing it while I plug away at trying to knock the windmill down.

Again, if it was all about me Bort would not have to contract the leagues.

The game is depopulating rapidly.

That is not happening because everyone thinks that the game is great as is.

IMO implementing at least some of yello's ideas could increase the population for the long haul, at least by having a league or two where we can have a PMS system for people who have jobs anyway...

I do not agree with the rookie bit entirely. A Rookie team would still not lose 255-0. But yes it is right that they have an uphill battle. However an HCreek and company set of rookies are more like a team of Number 1 Draft Pick Rookies. A team of that caliber should not be winless despite rookdom.

I agree with you on the salary cap concept. I also agree that my suggestion is not the optimal solution. But the optimal solutions have been made and rejected.

The optimal solution would be to improve the build system so that the absolutely worst dot you could build would actually be equivalent to an NFL Rookie, as opposed to a girl scout or ballerina which most builds are now. Tighten the performance ranges so that the best dot is maybe 10% better than the worst dot, not 500%. Then fix the AIs so that they adapt more intelligently so that one flaw in a game plan is not exploited for seven TDs etc etc etc.

But even with all of that, some increased range of randomness is needed, because robotic builds mathematically applied is boring AND a bad simulation of Pro Football.
