I haven't had that much Guinness yet. Why would a team solicit sight unseen offers (auto-offers)? Help me understand......

Because there are limited or no FAs at a certain position and they want to sign up a player at that position if/when another team sells back and goes CPU.

University is a prime example right now. I've exhausted every avenue to sign another C but there simply aren't any out there with the exception of a few non-boosters/horrendous builds. We aren't short a C because I'm lazy, but rather because there aren't any out there nor have there been any available. I think there might have been 2 or 3 around day 42 of the last offseason.

This is every single C available that is eligible for our team to sign.

I've even got offers sitting there that were sent to agents that have gone long inactive. I don't think asking for an extra feature or two with auto offers makes me a lazy owner, tbh. Just want to be able to throw my name in the hat when another team in our age range goes CPU without looking through every single league every single day without the risk of signing a lvl 5 C.

Still don't see how that correlates to Auto-Offer, in fact with a pool that small you'd be better to just meet and greet recruit and be done with it. Seriously, if there were 20 teams chasing that few number of players at a position of absolute scarcity - the last thing you'd probably want to do is leave it to chance and hope they sign. Would you sign a drive by contract offer in that circumstance if you were a player agent?

I understand recruiting sucks, been there done that and won't do it again. Just don't see how a "don't sign these suck-ass players" helps - especially in the situation you provided - one of absolute scarcity.

auto offers is a great way for a team with a hole(s) to find players newly looking, from returning agents or players whose teams have gone belly up. i've seen many decent builds on folded teams just go to the 1st decent team that sends an offer, just to finish out the season. it fun to build teams like that late in the season for playoff runs.
