#1) You've already shown yourself to be an ass. Don't add coward to the mix by pretending your post was "innocent," because absolutely nobody is buying that. When you say "Your face palming that idea so you should have credentials to back it up...right?" that clearly shows that it wasn't an innocent inquiry. You were talking down to drewd21, which is all the more comical precisely because he has much more WL experience than you do.

#2) Because I was already participating in the thread and didn't like your comment.

It's a simple exchange in a team plan for me. IDK about how Wl does it because JDbolick builds impossible to stop DL IMO, and I have to give him props for that. You better beat him some other way than countering the DL sack. That said, if I were to build DL, I'd either

a)build them like bolick and not blitz anyone else cuz sacks come a lot even vs top DS teams in WL playoffs, or

b) build them strong and tall, with jump/towering man and not blitz. You are somehow collapsing the pocket to reduce passing lanes, then swatting the ball. You leave the extra men in coverage to create time for the pocket to collapse, possibly have relentless pursuit, esp if running a 3-4 with all in coverage, and then hope for the best.

I won't pretend to know shit about the ideal DT or whatever build, but there is a clear strategy of 11 guys on the field and if you have the swat/strength types, or the combo/pressure type, you sure don't need more than spot blitzing to create pressure.

You are making a decision between time reduced on targets coming from coverage or pressure. That's just a system choice and the build is not relevant unless it contributes to that choice in D style.

I won't ever build DL shorter than 75" again and at least 40 jump. I don't get why you would unless your whole DL is speed.

99% agreed, but even if the DT is speed based, i'd have a real hard time passing up TM and the 50-75% deflection chance

I believe its multiplication and not addition for the percentages. Its not that you get 50-75% deflection chance but you get that multiplied to your base deflect ball score. I could be wrong but I believe I am correct.

I agree - +75% to your PD chance - soi if you had a 20% chance it would elevate to 35% chance

well yes, but it's the same as Def % AEQ. Even if a DT stacked Def% gear in all 4 slots (for some unknown reason) the max they'd be looking at is 28% and change. Relative to that, 5% per VA point is huge.

There's no real way to figure out what a player's actual deflection chance is, especially for a DT who may or may not be actively engaged in a block. The "real" chance for a DT to deflect a given pass may only be 4%, so sometimes a 75% bonus means almost nothing. Another time, he may have come off a block and have a free shot at the QB and have a 60% chance to deflect that pass. Then the 75% bonus is much more significant... making it a "sure thing" at 105% chance to deflect that pass.
