Yes, you still have to gameplan against a team of CPU players.

Welp, it helps not to have WRsplaying defense.

Protip: If the team is owned by a human and has human coordinators it's not an all CPU team.

No, but I guess it happened more than once then. I don't care a huge amount, it just seems wrong to me that it can happen.

Yes, but the WR's were still there to make the tackle....and actually made them which is shocking in itself.
I did notice they only have 3 CB's, 1 FS and 1 SS on that squad though. Big problem there...

I feel like part of it is that instead of recruiting and making do with what you can get, a team in a non-elite league can pick and choose their roster from good-enough CPU dots as long as they have the coaching staff to pull it off. I see no problem with it other than that they should be at some sort of an inherent disadvantage. Right now that doesn't seem to be the case. The prep league team in question should definitely have picked up some CPU's to round out that defense tho

The time it happened before this thread there was a guy that was obsessed with stating that he shouldn't have lost to a CPU, even though he had HB draw plays in on 3rd down and other plays that are known to not work. He also said that he shouldn't have to gameplan to beat a CPU. Thread went on for a while, but eventually stopped.

Anyways, moral of the story....GAMEPLAN against all teams and make sure it's an airtight gameplan that has as few holes as possible. CPU players are fine as they are and aren't over-powerful.

Every example that someone has provided it's been bad play calling and/or a poor roster every time. I'm still waiting for someone to post a legitimate argument that would compel me to believe CPUs are overpowered. I scanned through many of the 16-0 teams (until I found that) and every one of them that faced a CPU in the first round won VERY easily.

You don't even have to game plan for CPUs. You just have to have a half-assed decent AI and decent dots.

Yep, and I'd rather win against a CPU team 100-0 then 1200-0 like a lot of good teams did back in like season 13 or so...

You know my dots and AIs are good.

I never said you shouldn't have to gameplan. I just said that the game shouldn't be able to be won on game planning alone. At some point your roster should just not quite be good enough. The players should decide games, not the coaches. That is an axiom of all sports.

Sorry, here's another. Someone else had already mentioned it, but this is the first time a link has been posted:

FWIW Devonport has some of the best staff in GLB, so their run is pretty exceptional. I don't expect it to start happening all over the place, but the question is: should it ever happen?

Here's another 16-0 team that lost to a CPU in the first round. http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=1876895

They went 16-0 in a conference that had 14 teams with at least 11 CPU starters and 1 non-booster. Most likely they would not have even sniffed the playoffs in any other league. They even have a few CPUs on the roster themselves and their ST depth chart isn't even set.

yeah, AI can only take you so far, honestly, CPU qb's and receivers complete and catch a lot of passes, especially in traffic.

Looks like someone didn't get the memo that zone sucks.
