Originally posted by chronoaug I think the main things they'll retroactively punish is not taking 5-6 players from a team that was gutting but the blatant cases like signing guys to a AA team full of CPUs just to give them full 64/72 equipment and then cut them and sign them to the real team. I don't think the mini-mergers from teams who were already gutting or farm teams coming up will really be gone after.
. I guess with people being afraid of retroactive punishments it'll help curb future issues that may pop up or so the reasoning probably goes. Which is good in a way but also it'd be nice if the system didn't suck as much. Still, it's basically a more forceful way of "asking" people to play nice and use good sportsmanship
This.

I'm p sure he has said this multiple times in the past.

I'm just going to eliminate money alltogether while the admins and I work on a plan to bring it back potentially in season 16 and make it better than ever"
Originally posted by chronoaug True. I know a fair amount of situations but most unfortunately involve halifax because they brag about it not because i hate them or am out to get them. Gart or someone bragged about Kevin Trench getting 72s on that cash team during the preseason, asheme bragged about deadpool getting 72eq on dryden when the whole team was cpu with the exception of 3-4 guys getting eq for hali. Pretty sure someone on hali mentioned the BFM thing too. I know the whole point was "lulz @u" and bort had loopholes in his system but i think other teams have done it without bragging about it and it's not quite as obvious.
Again, am not out to get hali and honestly don't care. I mean, i know bort has said before he doesn't want teams doing those kinds of things to take advantage of the system just because it isn't explicitly worded. It was obviously implied and everyone knew that a team of all CPUs in pro who signs a few guys to give eq to and releases them 5 days later (the limit right?) to go to the real team is against the rules. It's possible to pull off but obviously not supposed to be done. I understand that some people will cheat so others have to cheat to keep up and that's why it has hit a breaking point this season and will only get worse.
I guess part of the reasoning for this is to get people to follow the spirit of the rules rather than scoping through the fine print for a loophole, taking advantage when a fair amount of other teams try to play as legit as possible. I mean, i think there are greater problems and just wish he'd get rid of money until he fixed this shithole and have it all free for awhile and then start everyone on level playing field season 16 when the new system is ready. I dunno. A lot of problems not just equipment related.
Then again, the ceiling of GLB is much lower than a lot of people wish it would be.
tell this to Tony Dungy who did this with a multi for at least 3-4 seasons before pointing a finger at Gart because its Gart you lieing piece of shit
That person who was "bragging about kevin trench getting 72s" was ubasstards. What a ambassador of Halifax's actions!
We left 10s of millions of dollars on BFM. Mostly because ksychic and I were too lazy to send out tons of contract offers, but still. We're really not the culprit here. We like to tears, but we don't cheat in game. There've been maybe a half dozen players in total who have got money from cash teams and then signed with Halifax. In each of those cases it was a "sorry, i'm not going to pay for your 72 gear. If you want to find it elsewhere, be my guest" situation.
I'm going to side with Gart here and be open. I know that when my team was folding that I personally empty the coffers giving money to players that were going to teams that I was associated with and/or long time agents/players that I believe had earned it. In many cases, these players had future equipment paid for, which in turn, helped many teams that I'm associated with. What amazes me is that despite doing this kind of stuff, Dakar has still struggled mightily to equip players. Our first season in WL, we had barely any level 64 EQ. We've finally somewhat caught up somewhat because we've worked on keeping players around, and been more stingy with EQ money. I think that with the way the game is designed, it was basically a requirement to game the system at least somewhat to be able to compete at a high level.
