I stopped reading the general forum awhile ago.

At any rate, the midseason update was an attempt to fix it, but it didn't work because it targeted the wrong thing (tackling) as opposed to blocking, which was probably too complicated of a fix to do midseason. It did make passing viable if you ever had the ball...

So what if you're a team who isn't real fond of throwing the ball 65% of the game? I guess you'd suggest we run some I Formation Weak Off - Tackle mixed in with some ineffective Pro-Slam, with even more ineffective Weak I Sweep Strong in order to not be accused of "cheating"?

I'll agree with you that blocking was the root of the problem, and that passing became a bit more viable for most teams. I mean look, I'm somebody who was Islammed out of the playoffs after throwing for over 400 yards on my opponent. But you know what? As an offensive coordinator if I scouted the SW defense, it's weakness IS and always has been the power running game. So because at the moment power running was a culturally unacceptable thing to do, we should have gotten a pass for the hole in our defense and islander is forced to choose a gameplan that won't work? What's the point of beating somebody if they can't give you their best game?

Exactly. If you're in the position of the sim catering nicely to your team for once, should you really have to do something other than your what you're built for because its suddenly taboo?

Then you should be really good at strong I slamming rather than barely eeking out a first down on 4th and 2. (hypothetical you)

There is a difference between that and doing it every game, and its certainly a gray area, I'll admit. The problem is, I think teams pretty much stopped scouting opposing run defenses because power running was always the best option no matter who you were playing and who you were.

But my problem is not that the Roughnecks could pull off the season 8 offense, its that anyone could if their opponent didn't do the same and levels were withing striking range of each other.

Forgive the ridiculous analogy, but if the world were GLB Pro we would have all died in a nuclear war a few decades ago...

Last year was the worst sim experience in 8 seasons. The game was boring and lacked any semblance of being dynamic...and we ALL know why.

You can call it cheating, exploitation, being unsportsmanlike or even appropriate/smart game planning...the fact is it was craptastic...and if you enjoyed it I have some fresh paint on my wall, why don’t you come over bring some beers and watch it dry.

It's a serious issue for the game...I assume Bort got the message (I can’t imagine how he could not), I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt...let's all move on and see what happens.

And, Hazy, sorry, but this destroys all validity to your rankings. To be #1 you have to beat #1. You are #1 until someone proves otherwise. This is like saying that, "If only Ali hadn't connected with that hook in the 15th round and knocked him out, he would have won the belt. After all, he was winning on all the cards." Doesn't matter. We got knocked out and you have the belt. So, wear it as long as you can.
