What do you guys think of a 9 Enquirer Pro Bowl team?
I'm going to suggest a Pro Bowl game for the offseason.
Yeah, our schedule is tough the next few days as well, right after we play y'all, we turn around and play the Doom, and they have been playing very well lately.
The Pro Bowl idea sounds good...but I don't see it happening for quite a while. I think this would be something that would be a fairly low priority for Bort and the other admins. Plus it would be hard to implement a system to select who the pro-bowlers are...of course you could just allow voting for that, but even then there are gonna be some people complaining that they were left out.

Would love to see a probowl, but I agree that I don't see bort implimenting this. However, we could still have a probowl selection if someone is willing to collect all the votes.

I would also like to see the committee vote on a post season pro bowl team:
QB=3
RB=3
FB=3
WR=5
TE=3
T=4
G=4
C=4
DE=6
DT=6
LB=6
CB=6
FS=3
SS=3
K=2
P=2
KR=2
PR=2
Then list honorable mention as players who did receive votes.

I think you would actually have to watch games to determine some of these. I mean the offense you can probably go by stats pretty much, but on defense you don't really want high stat numbers except for sacks/hurries.
If a CB has 50 tackles and 6 INTs is he really any good? Or does he just get thrown at a butt load so his stats look good. Its hard to tell what the case is for some positions.

Sadly, the pro bowl and the nba all star game is based on ballots not stats. So depends on what you are trying to do. Make an all star vs all star or a pro bowl where the players and fans decide who goes.

Everybody plays everybody...so people should know who hurt them...

Thats where I see the problem when it comes to stats for the defensive players. Tackles are useless as a stat...the worst teams have the players w/ the most tackles because their defense is always on the field. For instance ATCT and Indy are the top 2 teams in defense(based on pts allowed per game), but they are the bottom 2 teams in tackles...so if you used tackles as a determining factor no one from the 2 best defenses would make the pro bowl. If you went purely on stats for the defensive I only know of 1 guy that would definitely make it for us. He's 2nd in the Eastern Conference in sacks so that should be enough to get him in there. We have 2 others that are in the top 10 in sacks and 1 of them is in the top 10 in hurries. You might could pick the defensive line and linebackers by those stats, but picking the secondary would be a little trickier.
I think voting would be the only way to get this done effectively. We would need someone to organize a ballot of some kind available for everyone to vote on...or limit it to a certain # of voters from each team(that way no one team can decide to get someone in the pro-bowl that shouldn't be in it).

yep normally you can't vote for your own teamates. if they are recognized by your peers they should get in. that way it prevents bias voting

Well if we made sure there was equal representation then it wouldn't matter if people voted for their own team...However, it's still better to have equal representation even if you can't vote for your own team members...because that would penalize teams that had more participation in the vote.
