2 cents: Since moving from A to AAA this season, I've noticed a definite need for vision for my SS. It's just too fast, jukes are far more effective and pump fakes are very effective. My build isn't very good anyways (my first SS build). I really wish I slow build it with a better plan. Vision is much more important than I thought it was.

Yea, when the QBs get a ton of pump fake, it can start to get hairy

I am starting to agree. I may pump vision when he boosts next season. we should get promoted to AAA. I will wait 3 or 4 games and see how much he is biting on pump fakes and jukes. then boost and If need be hit the vision. Thanks for the debate everyone. Also I didn't mean to hijack the thread haha.

There is a QB in my conference with a rumored 11 in pump fake and he often puts up nasty stats. I think he torched us before we redid our defense ai

Don't do that! I'd like to rip on your SS next season again.

...honestly, I got a good share of respect for your guy through this "fight". And I really believe, getting his vision up will really fit best. Maybe you can train up his vision one or two points during the off-season and early season, so you're about to second softcap it midway through season 8. Provided your guy got that 90+ speed and fine agility along this 61 strength (and 55+ tackling I assume?), I'd really like to see him play in the tougher league - especially considering forcing fumbles.

(3 really isn't what I expected of a 60 strength guy with sufficient agility, speed and tackling - I'm almost willing to bet it's a bit vision he needs to hit perfectly)

b.t.w.: you should have called... my guy doesn't have that high speed or agility. Here's his build

Strength: 49.48
Speed: 89.75 + 5.66 bonus = 95 (70.75 natural)
Agility: 70.46 + 4.84 bonus = 75 (60.46 natural)
Jumping: 28.59
Stamina: 41.13
Vision: 70.55
Confidence: 20.25

Blocking: 22.35
Catching: 16.35
Tackling: 49.15
Carrying: 15.35

Coverage Abilities: 2-3-1-1-1

I was planning to get agility to the 3rd softcap this season, but decided to softcap strength and tackling first due to the threat of powerbacks. I'll add +6 agility by start of season 8 and will be training strength+tackling mostly in order to get them to 61 after agility is done (in season 9).

Now you decide if you'd like to pick on my "bad build". Anyway - you got my respect and I wish for your guy to do well. I thought about the high number of PDs your guy got... maybe (just maybe) there's something in the CB/LOLB builds? I've noticed the CBs on my team make the PD and tackle most of the time themselfes. Just a thought...

15 zone spec is all fine and dandy, but by doing that you're almost begging the DC to use your SS strictly in Cover 2. Any other defense and you can't even utilize your zone specialist skills, which makes it very pointless to spend so much on it at the SS position.

Yea, i'm not a huge fan of zone specialist for SSs. A lot of packages involve the SS playing man on the tight end or HB. I think it's fantastic for FSs as most teams don't play them in man more than a few times a game. It has done wonders for my FS. Almost 10 point boost for vision, agility, and speed really get him in position quickly. Never have to chase anyone down.

these both from the games today in the playoffs.

Exactly how much more vision does he need? when he is already reading the plays way before the ball is even thrown. This play is just amazing.

I still think people are imagining stuff about vision and bringing it above the cap.

I will say one thing. I've never seen pump fakes really become a huge problem till i got to usa aaa. God damn. This one qb on a team is legendary for pump faking (rumored to be like 11 with equip). Fucking nuts. The SS on my team was getting shook out of his jock for awhile. It's also a consistency thing. Your safety is doing fine in your league at the moment. Kudos. I personally wouldn't adjust my FS's build at the moment. I'm happy where my vision is at the moment and wouldn't take 5 away for speed seeing how he has played this season (not just stats, but watching him on normal plays). Still need to get that agility 3rd capped though. Will have it with the boost to start the season.

Like said earlier, there is more than 1 way to skin a cat.

More vision isn't going to help you much on the plays you're already succeeding at. It may help you on the plays you fail at, though.

Nah he usually helps with the receiver on his own side.
