Look at Julius Dee the one who popularized the speed DE. The DE he has only has 1 sack in two games. It's a lot less then his 3 sack a game avg he had last year. IMO it's a good thing DE's have been toned down. The sacks were getting crazy last season.

One thing you will notice sweeping across the board. There are speed end with no str. and speed ends with a good amount of str. Guess which ones aren't suffering so much this season. I bet you every single speed end who is suffering this season has under capped str. I bet the speed ends who are still plugging away have at least capped or better str.

my DT is harning the competition and he's never put a point in vision and just started training it at level 28. speed and tackling are far more important.

It's not hard to find plays where his lack of vision hurt him.

He is still doing better than HEAD1 though. I never endorsed 16 vision. 35-40 is what I think is fine.

Oh, yeah, I definitely don't think that capping vision is something of huge importance, but it does help some. Not a big difference from 35 to 48 honestly but I was still fine with capping it.

I think DT's are different then DE's but I can't speak on it. I've never built a DT. Vision for a DT won't help on the HB dump offs or even the short WR throws like it helps the DE's.

Wrong. Mine capped strength long ago...and he isn't even getting a sniff of the QB...Maybe he'll get lucky and get 2 or 3 sacks this season after 70+ last season...

Capped vision before the beginning of season six and went from 23 sacks to 56 sacks.

Those aren't the best examples of his low vision hurting us (that's my NT and the team I GM). There are a few times where his DT and his backup with similar vision scores have had huge snap delays. In that third one, I don't even see anything that he did wrong, other than not getting to the QB.

However, like underdogs posted, there are just as many plays where he's dominated the LG. Vision is clearly not the main stat for a defensive lineman, and probably shouldn't be touched until your big two attributes are at the very least 60. But it definitely needs to be trained into the mid 30s, and when your main stats are in the 70s, speed/strength (whichever one you didn't focus on) is in the mid 60s, and you feel like you have enough tackling, why not cap vision to completely avoid snap delays and occaisionally make better reads on screens (ideally, a high vision DE would sniff it out instead of heading for the QB like the one on that last play did. He has decent vision, btw).

I was just showing how his lower vision sometimes hurt him getting started, I didn't put points into vision until my speed was past soft-capped and my base str and agi were both in the 70s.

ok. I was just noticing some guys out there with 60+ str and 70 speed and 90 agility still doing well. while guys with 80 speed and 100 agility with capped str or lower were struggling. I would believe anything you would say since your guy is a stud, and he seems to be struggling a bit this year. But you have to think, with all the d.e. talk about them being so good, it seems like more and more people are game planning to shut them out. One of my friends has a very good d.e. they threw wr screen hb screen and ran all game just because of him. It cost them a couple of turn overs, but god damn they shut him out.

it's not like on offense where vision seems to hurt half the time but yea def get the big stats (both str & agi) to 60 or 68 first imo.
