McGrai, in football you settle it on the field...it doesn't matter if one team is better all season...if you beat a team head to head and they don't beat you again, then you are the better team...whether or not they have better talent. Does it matter that UF would probably beat Ole Miss 8-9 times out of 10? No because they beat us when it mattered just like the Giants and Pats last season, were the Pats the more talented team and would they have won a 2 out of 3 series...most likely but the Giants were the better team when it mattered. There's a reason why Football isn't best out of 3 because you have 1 chance to win when it matters.(sometimes 2 if you get a bowl rematch or a CCG rematch)

They were the better team that day. So Ole Miss should be in the title game instead of Florida, right? Err, wait. Ole Miss lost to Wake Forest. So Wake Forest is the better team. But wait, they lost to Navy. So Navy is the best team.

No, I don't. Saying Ole Miss beat Florida so they were better when it mattered says it all. I am not saying they deserve to go to the NC because they don't have 0 losses or 1 loss, the point is...Football is settled on the field so the team that wins is the better team...at least until next season. However just because they are better than 1 team doesn't mean they deserve to be in the NC.(USC and UGA were probably better than OSU last year and yet weren't in the NC)

Why not Ole Miss? They're better than Florida, right?

You need to use a bit of common sense on that one. Their records are too different to declare Ole Miss better then UF.

Obviously your question was answered...their record isn't good enough but if they were a 0 or 1 loss team, yes they would have a legit argument to say they deserved to be in the NC.

Nope Ole Miss was better than UF when it mattered however...they weren't good enough in other games to earn their way to the NC.
