A very disturbing video no doubt but I still didn't see anything but a few specific, isolated interviews. There absolutely are ignorant people in this nation, on both sides on this election, as well as in every country I've ever visited, lived in or heard/read about, but this is still not a McCain or Palin rally where racial slurs were tolerated which was the impression given by the statement PirateCalvin made.

i dont think anyone said that racial slurs or terrorist accusations were TOLERATED at rallies, but they did happen.

Still didn't see it... not saying it didn't happen but the worst thing he was called in this video was an 'Arab'. You have to note McCain's immediate response to both comments, defending Obama and setting his own supporters straight.

I thought that was what you were implying with the "enlightened" remark.

I choose C, "none of the above".

I asked him specifically why he voted for Obama. If he had said "Well, Obama and I agree as far as [insert reason here]" I would have respected his decision. However, he decided to slander anyone who dared disagree with him, and I decided to call him on it.
I think I understood what he was saying. I figured he meant that some, not all of the mccain voters were ignorant rednecks, and his vote would be canceling out one of those.

He had no reason to refer to a McCain voter as an "ignorant redneck" except out of spite and ignorance.
Have you been following the election? Look around at some of the news sites that allow comments, and read what many McCain supporters are writing about the candidates. I'd say "ignorant redneck" not only describes a good number of McCain voters, it's also an accurate description of his VP candidate.

Wow.....are you guys hearing all this shit coming out now after the election?

I wouldn't have thought it possible, but Palin is even dumber than I thought. This retard didn't even know that Africa was a CONTINENT. She thought it was a country, and was confused if South Africa was a part of the country of Africa, or if it was it's own country.

Well....I guess we have to have SOME understanding. I mean, it's not like you can see Africa from Alaska.

Oh man....this is just too much. I don't know what's more hilarious, Palin's stupidity, or Republicans trying to defend her like it's normal to be that ignorant.

Since the source of the new 'Palin is dumb' rumors is pretty much solely Fox News, it sounds more like republicans trying to scapegoat Palin for the lost election to save face for everyone else. It's pretty sad.

Well, to be technical, the sources are people from McCains campaign, Fox News is just reporting it (I think Newsweek actually reported it first).

Either way, I think she IS the reason they lost. Not the sole reason, but maybe the biggest one.

I have trouble believing she's that ignorant about world geography in the same way I don't believe Obama was ignorant as to the number of states in the union. According to exit polling, Palin brought in the conservative base for McCain, which was wavering, and cost him some independents but the difference was about 4% in his favor according to the exit polling that I saw. In my opinion, the stock market collapse cost McCain the election, not Palin.

Well, you see, there is a fundamental difference between making an oratory slip up (saying 57 instead of 47, or whatever it was), and (allegedly) asking someone "if South Africa is part of the country" (even if she did slip up and meant "continent", it's still retarded).

I would also have trouble believing this if I hadn't heard so much of her the last few weeks/months. At this point, it's more than believable.....she's just that ignorant.

Yea, that definitely played a role as well (plus the last 8 years of Bush, among other things).

I think the biggest mistake McCain made was listening to the people around him. But who knows, maybe he had no choice.

Sorry man, you have to give me more than a 3rd hand unsourced statement potentially leaked from people who are looking for a scapegoat to save themselves professionally.

as it should. mccain is definitely a very respectable man. its just too bad his campaign wasnt nearly as respectable. back in the day, mccain used to stand for bringing republicans and democrats together. he was very anti-partisanship. george w bush's presidency and mccain's campaign have done everything in their power to polarize john mccain.

when john mccain ran for president in 2000, i was completely behind him. i definitely appreciated his concern for how bipartisanship was going to tear apart this country. when G.W. got elected, i told myself that if john mccain were to run again, i would definitely be behind him. what i didnt expect was bush's policies to make the right even more right and the left even more left. at some point, mccain simply had to pick a side, and forget about everything he used to stand for. bush simply left no room for centrists.

i ended up voting for obama, but i still deeply respect mccain because i know that hes been out of character for the last several years. obama was just a very pleasing candidate to me. whereas 2004 was just a very disappointing performance for the democrats, both in their choice of candidate and in their campaigning, 2008 was definitely their best effort in both jobs that i've probably ever seen in my lifetime.

Well, obviously I can't. This just came out....let's wait and see if she denies it.

But like I said, I would side with you if she wasn't such a retard. Someone who can't name a newspaper that they read regularly, or an important supreme court decision other than Roe vs. Wade (just to name 2 examples of her ignorance),seems very capable of not knowing that Africa was a continent.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see if the truth ever comes out.
