Eastern Europe Pro League Preview
Season 2, Day 8
5/4/08

As always, just as the standings start to get settled, upsets come from nowhere in this league that throw the Preview some curveballs and reshape the Power Five and the outlook of the league. Yesterday the #3 Chernobyl Mutants were knocked off in overtime by the Budapest Brawlers. Meanwhile, the Alpha Conference's top dog was challenged by a major competitor, and a Power Five clash rocked the Zeta Conference. Find out who survived and who's off the board in today's EEPL Preview!

Power Five

1. Prague Punishers - Alot of people are speculating that the Prague Punishers sealed the Zeta Conference yesterday with their 17-10 victory over the Cincinatti Tigers. Obviously there is still alot of football to be played, but you've got to wonder if, after the upset of Chernobyl, the Cincinatti Tigers were indeed the toughest competition that Prague will face all season. Only time will tell, but the Preview beleives that the answer will come sooner than later. After going on the road to Kosovo in their next game, the Punishers will return home to host the Chernobyl Mutants.
Next Game: at Kosovo Liberty

2. Washington Chairmen - Even after an impressive 27-6 win over the talented Georgia Tec-9s, challengers continue to rise in the Alpha Conference, and with them rises the doubts. Washington will have to continue to fight them both for now and for the length of this season. But the fact of the matter is, the Washington Chairmen are an unflawed bulletproof powerhouse. Next, they'll take on the Warsaw Legioniers, who, ironically, also looked indestructable around this time last season, but have now been reduced to what looks like a minor league team.
Next Game: vs Warsaw Legioniers

3. American Invaders - How do you stop the questions of whether or not your team is still at the level it was last season? A 79-0 win. Thier huge blowout victory over the Grodno Pirates yesterday quieted all the doubts that had arisen after the Invaders' overtime loss to the Sheboygan Chaos Theory to start the season. The Invaders now seem to be in prime condition, and as the season trudges on they will try to prove to everyone that they are no longer Cinderella, but instead an elite team and a force to be reckoned with in the Alpha Conference.
Next Game: vs Sarajevo Reapers

4. Sheboygan Chaos Theory - Somewhat controversially following up the American Invaders in today's Power Five is the Sheboygan Chaos Theory, a 4-0 team that has definitely earned the fourth spot, if not more. The Chaos Theory weren't much of a factor last season and went out quiet in the playoffs. After a seemingly silent offseason, no one expected the Chaos Theory to start the season with a big win over the defending Alpha Conference champions, nor that that win would catapult them into a 4-0 start. Still, Sheboygan has much to prove, but we'll all see exactly what this team is made of in their next game, a road trip against the Kazan Golden Horde.
Next Game: at Kazan Golden Horde

5. Cincinatti Tigers - Some might question the Tigers' short slide in today's Power Five, but how can you blame them for losing on the road against the Prague Punishers? The Punishers won. It's a thing they do. The Tigers were just their victims yesterday, and despite the loss the defense was able to impress by only allowing the Punishers to score 17 points. The Tigers have a couple games to relax now, before a five game stretch in the middle of the season that could prove to be the toughest that anyone in the league has ever faced.
Next Game: vs Rome Gladiators

Just missing the Power Five:
Chernobyl Mutants, Kazan Golden Horde, Budapest Brawlers

Alpha Conference Game of the Day

#4 Sheboygan Chaos Theory at Kazan Golden Horde
- The Preview is always attracted to games between two teams that are polar opposites, and this one is another one just like this. Last season, the Sheboygan Chaos Theory were just another team in the middle of the pack, but this season they've emerged as one of only three teams in the entire league to start the season 4-0. Meanwhile, the Kazan Golden Horde was in the spotlight for all of last season, featured in almost all EEPL Previewed, but have started this season without that spotlight, despite their efforts in their past three games. On the field, this game should be a close one between two teams trying to prove something.
-- Prediction: Sheboygan Chaos Theory 24, Kazan Golden Horde 16

Zeta Conference Game of the Day

Budapest Brawlers at Moscow Dragons
- Fresh off their upset over the Chernobyl Mutants, the Budapest Brawlers look to continue their climb to the top of the Zeta Conference in their next game against the Moscow Dragons. This game could turn out to be a deciding factor come playoff time, as both of these teams look to be the better of the 3-1 teams in the Zeta Conference. The Preview cannot stress enough that this matchup, between two teams that have gone unmentioned in previous days, is an incredibly important one. This one is definitely one of the more interesting games of this early season.
-- Budapest Brawlers 24, Moscow Dragons 28

Well, there it is. I hope you've all enjoyed. I'm pressed for time, so you'll have to go without the Upset Alert game this time around. Good luck everyone, and see you all in a couple days with another Preview!

Eastern Europe Pro League Preview
Season 2, Day 11
4/6/08

Another day goes by, and with it goes another round of high stakes action in Eastern Europe Pro. It was a continuing of trends of sorts in the league yesterday, with the undefeated staying undefeated, and the rest of the league upsetting and beating up on eachother. The bottom half of the Power Five is shaken up in today's preview, as we get you filled in on yesterday's games and get you prepared for tomorrow's!

Eastern Europe Pro Power Five

1. Prague Punishers - Ripping through the Eastern Europe Pro League has become somewhat of a habit for the Prague Punishers, who once again baffle and dominate their opponents. This time it was the Kosovo Liberty that suffered a 77-0 beatdown at their own home stadium at the hands of the defending EEPL champions. They expect to keep up this high performance pace as they face two solid Zeta conference teams in the upcoming days. And just to update you on a stat from the last Preview, the Prague Punishers have now outscored their opponents by a combined 235-27. Another blow-out like this one, and that advantage will go well over ten fold.
Next Game: vs Chernobyl Mutants

2. Washington Chairmen - Alpha Conference's answer to the Punishers, the Washington Chairmen continue to dismantle opponents in their quest for respect in the Pro League. Unfortunately for the league, that quest takes place on a road with regular season dominance and a league championship on it. The Chairmen continue to win in amazing fashion, and defeated the Warsaw Legioniers, thier counterparts from last season, in an incredible 37-3 performance. Will this unfamiliar team continue to plow through the Alpha Conference in the coming days, or will a team finally be able to put the peices together and solve the puzzle of the Washington Chairmen?
Next Game: at Gliwice Lions

3. Sheboygan Chaos Theory - Started by a shocking victory over the defending Alpha Conference champion American Invaders, the Sheboygan Chaos Theory have ripped off five straight to open the season. It looks as though their undefeated run will continue well into next week, as their next three games are up against teams that have had somewhat disappointing seasons thus far. But after that, it's an uphill struggle for the Chaos Theory, as it seems that all of their hard games are there, during the second half of the season. It will be interesting to see if Sheboygan will lighten up and attempt to prepare for that tough stretch, or if they'll continue to go through opponents with the same ferocity as their 17-0 victory over the Kazan Golden Horde yesterday.
Next Game: at Minsk Koats

4. Sarajevo Reapers - As you can see, the fourth spot is where the shakeup begins in today's Power Five, as the Sarajevo Reapers take the fourth ranking. Their 20-9 away win over the American Invaders impressed alot of people, including the Preview, who now has them ranked in the Power Five for the first time this season. A tough road loss to the Washington Chairmen is the only blemish on the Reapers' 4-1 record, and things only look brighter for this team as the season moves along.
Next Game: vs Bisons Sentinals

5. Budapest Brawlers - Three days ago the Brawlers' 13-10 victory over the Chernobyl Mutants was reckognized as a monumental upset. Today, it doesn't look like much of an upset. The Brawlers won yesterday in outstanding fashion on the road at the Moscow Dragons, 41-14. Their schedule looks to set up good for them, as they've already gotten their games against some of the Zeta Conference's top dogs out of the way. Are the 4-1 Budapest Brawlers really top contenders, or are they just an underdog having a dream season?
Next Game: vs New Jersey Devils

Just missing the Power Five:
Chernobyl Mutants, Rome Gladiators, Silesia Miners

Alpha Conference Game of the Day

Kazan Golden Horde at Team Pheonix
- Just a season ago, this matchup between Kazan and Team Pheonix would be a marquee matchup with all the hype in the world. But today this game between these 4-1 and 3-2 Alpha Conference teams has been missed and looked over by most people in the league. However a late season run by either of these teams, and both of these teams are capable of doing so, could change things around and this early season matchup could turn out to be an important one when the late season comes around. Either way, this is going to be a close and highly contested matchup and one worth watching.
-- Prediction: Kazan Golden Horde 24, Team Pheonix 9

Zeta Conference Game of the Day

Chernobyl Mutants at #1 Prague Punishers
- If it wasn't for a close upset on the road at the hands of the Budapest Brawlers, the Chernobyl Mutants would be 5-0 and this matchup would be hyped as the Game of the Season. But the Preview still beleives that this game has that potential. A victory here could project the Mutants right back at the top of the league, while a Punishers win could solidify them as a completely dominate team in the Zeta Conference, and will be one huge check off of their list of victims.
-- Prediction: Chernobyl Mutants 14, Prague Punishers 35

Well, there's the Preview. Once again, I'm pressed for time and can't come up with an Upset Alert. Sorry about that. See you in a couple days.

Was tighter with Chernobyl than I thought, but defense pulled it out again.

Also 4 turnovers for each team pretty much killed any momentum either offense could have had.

Thank God, my aggressive tactics I changed to compensate for my player losses worked out. I was worried if we lost this one, some guys might lose confidence in me and jump ship. GG to the Tech 9's.
