Tin Foil Hat time!

Heh...
Keep believing ESPN/ABC/Disney is all about integrity and what's right for college football. You do realize they nearly had a monopoly on that market until Delaney gave Mark Shapiro the middle finger and 'rolled the dice.' ESPN/ABC/Disney is in the business of making money, not what's right for sports. The LHN wasn't created out of ESPN stupidity (even though it looks so) but to keep a major power pacified to allow the Disney conglomerate time to fix the shit Mark Shapiro fucked up.

Never said ESPN/ABC/Disney is all about integrity and what's right for college football. But that's a long way and a few tin foil hats away from saying they're deciding who wins the Heisman trophy behind the scenes.

Commercials make the Di$ney conglomerate tons of $$$.

ABC has the Rose Bowl.

E$PN is the only sports network at the time.

Di$ney uses E$PN to dictate to the masses what they want people to believe. Remember Judgement Day? Never in the AP had a team dropped from the #1 spot AFTER A WIN. We can thank E$PN for that now.

Viola, we now have the Heisman and the Rose Bowl (neither part of the alliance at the time) in a National Championship game. Money falls out of the sky for Di$ney and voters were duped for months.

-----

Fast forward nearly 15 years later (we won't get into the library full of records where Di$ney/E$PN were constantly pulling strings to their will). Yesterday, the Rose Bowl gets an 80 mil per year deal with E$PN. E$PN will get first negotiating dibs on Champions and Orange Bowl (a game where ACC is trying to get NDame to be able to opt in more often then not....so more pie in NBC's face). I will assume the Fiesta will be the 4th bowl game and they are currently with E$PN. Now look, E$PN/Di$ney once again has a championship monopoly and can charge their advertisers insane amounts of $$$.

Why does this matter to you and I you ask. Instead of enjoying a game of football you are beaten down by the insane amount of dumbass useless commercials and most often the same set of commercials you saw in the previous commercial break. I used to be able to enjoy a football game in 2:30 hours on average in the 90's. Up until 2008 the games were stretching out 3:15 hours on average. That's 45 minutes extra of commercials you have already had beaten into your head previously. What does Di$ney....errrr ABC/E$PN do to figure out what to do with the over lapping 15 minutes that would cut into future programming? They sure is hell aren't going to cut out the redundant commercials... their life blood. They are going to strongly urge the NCAA to change the rules to keep the clock moving (like going out of bounds, ect) to help alleviate their problem. Who loses? We as the spectators do... especially those of us who attend the games.

I would rather wear a tin foil cap then a dunce cap I suppose...

This might be the dumbest post in this entire thread. Aggie hasn't won anything of significance since 1939. UT has won more of everything.

And it's really sad that teams like aggie and Tenn have to resort to that argument. I'm not really sure what aggie expects, though. They were a mediocre Big 12 team and they think they will do well in the SEC? lol

Tennessee is right next to Texas in all categories and have done this against far superior competition. Geez. You college football newbs kill me

The Aggie part is totally justified. However, TENNESSEE has a long history of excellence. General Bob Neyland is a true CFB legend and his teams rival anyone's. The history of never having a tanked season in Knoxville can't be matched by any school.
I'm not a Vols fan by any means, but they have to be considered in the Top 20 all-time programs and that is beyond dispute.
I would venture to say that other than Alabama, TN is perhaps 2nd in the SEC from an historic standpoint. Other SEC schools that can boast rich histories include Auburn, Georgia, Florida, and LSU.

this is such bullshit
how you are so short sighted
you forget about the SWC
the old SWC was the modern SEC
plus Texas played national power OU from the Big 8 every year at a neutral site
