I'm hoping that the idea is still being mulled over and perhaps there is a workaround that Bort or his trusty henchmen will be able to figure out.

The key issue here isn't just a flat number, though. All of these suggestions are great, but remember that they have to include some flexibility for owners and GMs. You can't force a team to have a min/max of the same number of players, whether it's 15 or 20. Forcing 5 CPU players on a 20-man roster is great for making the idea of the league work, but it still has the same problem of having a 15 min/max.

The reason for this is the player pool. We don't want a bunch of unsigned Iron Man players out there because owners don't have any places for them, and we don't want to have human player shortages. Remember, these are players who can't really play in other leagues because they're being built for two-way football. If you force a min and a max of 15 players for a 32-team league, that makes the player pool for that league 480 players exactly. If you can make a min of 15 and a max of 20, the player pool for that league becomes between 480 and 620 players -- a range that creates flexibility.

In order to make this a real league, and not just a gimmick, you have to make sure the player pool numbers work.

They said they can get rid of the roster minimum. No roster minimum, roster maximum of 15, with 5 cpu waterboys that can't play. I don't see how this is still considered a problem.

Also, for christ's sake, everyone stop trying to edge the number up. 30 pages back it was 18. Now it's 20. With 22 you don't even have to play both sides of the ball. I think 15 is generous.

Yep, a MINIMUM of 5 CPU players should solve the issue of automatic reordering of the DC. It also means there doesn't need to be 15 human players per team, though it would be the optimal amount I would think. Going on the assumption that any team that's at least trying to compete will have at least 11 players,(and could sign an additional 4 CPU players on top of the mandatory 5 that are required) that means the player pool is 353 to 480 players.

Player creation should be 200 flex... And the player should not have a position only be known as Iron Man..

That is all

So, is this going to become a reality or no?

I think that the roster size should be :

QB / FS - 1
HB / SS - 1
FB / LB - 1
WR / CB - 3
TE / LB - 2
OL / DL-LB - 5
K - 1
P - 1

You could get away with a 20 man roster, that would let you get specialty players, but in true Iron Man fashion, 1 player plays 2 positions, so you should be at a 15 man roster, that gives you 2 flex players, and a K and P. Back in the day the QB, played K and P, or at least one of those positions.

A 15 man roster would be the most challenging by far, and.......
Would there be an accelerated Leveling system, for all players would have to grow twice as fast as a normal player?

eh, no. Working with the OOP is all part of the game.

Agree, the Out of Position Penalty would be a key part to developing the team. To remove it would make Iron Man style easier.

This idea I think solves the problem of the amount of players required to sim, while keeping the player pool flexible.

1) I hope you don't expect the roster to be limited based on position. If I want 15 guards, I want 15 guards. Please don't try to limit this so it becomes less fun.

2) No advanced leveling, no 'tweaks,' just an extremely small roster limit. This is the easiest and best way. Everything you probably think needs tweaked has been discussed in the last 50 pages, and we'd rather just play it as it lies, as part of the strategy.

3) No special positions, please. OOP workarounds will be the fun part.

I was thinking through typing, so yeah, no specific positions, just trying to put down how it could work, all players should be able to be whatever they want, or to be built however they want. I really, really like the idea, and would be in on the first batch of teams as soon as it was available. I appreciate that you came up with this new spin on the game, and hopefully it comes to light before a 3rd party steals the idea, and makes it another type of Online gaming style, OOP is a major part of this as well as the question that I asked, I think if they are playing 2 positions, they will be near retirement before they could perfect 2 positions, so an advanced leveling system would almost have to be in place.

This idea, and these type's of players are different, there won't be a easy way of doing it, they should get their own way of leveling to support the play type, due to how they will retire before being good at 2 positions. -Naka

I must say I really like this idea. I would be all over this this league, sounds like tons of fun.

... and frankly it would be a very nice way for Bort to get us spending more flex too.

edit - and 15 players is more then enough.

"Good" is defined relative to the players you are playing against. If we leave it as is then no Iron Man player done properly will ever be as good as a specialist, but that doesn't matter because every IM player will be in the same boat.
