Even passes to WRs well short of the 1st is p rare when there isn't pressure involved...Pressure changes everything. It sure seems to me that the QB would be willing to throw to a quad covered LOT if he was targeted when the QB passes a vision check to see pressure coming, but will pass over a targeted WR than has no one within 20 yards of him, if he's 6 yds shy of a 1st, more often than not.

Yeah, would be nice if the QB kept a mental note of "which target was the best choice so far" so he could "oh crap" throw it there, even though coverage has changed since he last looked. Of course, it would be better if he dumped it off to the HB route or whatever, but I have no idea how well that works.
