Wow, a lot of new posts. Will get to this over the next couple of days.

Va's shouldn't always be on. They should fire like SA's in a per play basis. That way they're more about being clutch and less about working numbers and working the system.

Risk/Reward should be the name of the game when it comes to va's. Basically these should be variables that make teams competitive not make select teams super powered.

for example, a power back can stack tenacious, short yard monster and bruiser and have this combination fire 100% of the game? on top of that add any SA's that decide to fire off for that play.

Don't know if this has already been suggested or if this even makes sense based on sim programming....

How about a "Gunslinger" VA where QBs get some kind of throwing/completion bonus for throwing into tighter coverage windows, but at some increased risk for INTs? Maybe make it available to QBs with a certain minimum Throwing and/or Confidence.

Visions of Brett Favre and Jay Cutler (circa Denver Broncos).

YAC (for a WR)
+5% speed, agility for 3 seconds after he makes the catch
add'l levels- increases the amount of time the bonus is in affect for

is this a good idea?

Here are Four New Veteran Abilities, 2 each for O and D that are all matched to each other, and are tied to Football Terms.

Open Field Runner - Each level adds 1% to Vision (or Speed?) and Agility when running more than 7 yards from the point of snap (meaning being more than 7 yards downfield or backfield or any yardage so long as outside the tackles).

Open Field Tacker - Each Level adds 1% to Agility and Tackling when tackling more than 7 yards from the point of snap (same meaning as above).

Hole Finder - +1% per level to Speed and Agility when running less than 7 yards of the point of snap

Gap Plugger - Each Level adds 1% to Agility and Tackling when tackling less than 7 yards from the point of snap

EDIT - I should say that the 7 yard depth need not be that large a distance. I was just going for simplicity. Might be better to limit the depth border to 3 to 5 yards from the line of scrimmage while leaving the outside inside border at the 7 yards already used in Outside Blocker.

Broken Ankles: This player is known for his elusiveness. Each level of broken ankles provides a 3% chance that a faked out defender will stay "stunned" for an extra tick (stacks so there would be X% rolls each tick until it passes for the defender to get up)

I was thinking about the Big Heart VA when I thought of this. I know many players step up their game when they are behind, but there are also some players that play their best when ahead. My suggestion is to make a new VA (name can be debated) called Turn up the Heat. It would be less effective than Big Heart, but would help teams counteract the Big Heart VA if they are expecting to lead in most games. It could be something like this:

Never give up the lead! Each level of Turn up the Heat gives a +.25% bonus to speed, agility, strength, and jumping, and a +2% bonus to all other attributes, when leading by 10 or more points. The bonus remains active until the score is within 7 points.

The % increase is half that of the Big Heart VA, so teams will still have a chance to come back, but it will allow the leading team to counteract that effect a little.

I would still like to know why there is no run blocking, or run defending specific VA's? One for OL would be like Bulldozer, it would give the offensive line a +% to run blocking when in a short yardage situation, or something to the effect, and Run stuffer for MLB's, also a boost to a short yardage run play, but for the defense.

Pulling Guard VA: http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=3629371

ETA maybe it could be made useable by Cs and OTs as well, for plays that those positions pull

New VA / Adjustment to Power Tackler - *Backfield Penetrator*

Either a new VA or an adjustment to Power Tackler.

"This defender wreaks havoc in the backfield. +3% Make Tackle chance on plays behind the LOS and +1% FF chance".

Would help combat SYM (where there is no counter at the moment) and would encourage aggressive defensive play which would likely in turn open up the passing game.

....never knew this thread even existed tbh.

There is already a Possession WR VA. Why not make a Deep threat VA that includes a % bonus to jumping, vision or catching to any pass over 20 yards?

How about a VA that helps CBs with the INT roll. CBs have Long reach and 3rd down stopper....both help with the pass deflect roll, but there is no VA to help with the Int Roll.

You could make it situational like 3rd down stopper or a re roll like long reach. Just something that helps with the roll would benefit a CB who was trying to build that way.
