Never happen. Samurai are to quick for the slower moving european knights. Although the European Knights armor is thicker it still has alot places of vulnerablity (under the armpits, between the back and breast plate, behind the knee to name a few).

There is a common misconception among anime followers about the strength and cutting ability of the Japanese katana. Those who grew up getting their education about ancient Japanese culture from cartoons frequently believe that the folding process used on the metal that would become the blade of the katana was some sort of mythical, highly complicated processes that was repeated tens of thousands of times until the sword was so strong that its edge could be honed down to a point so sharp that it could cut a large tree in half with a single swipe.
Unfortunately they do not know that the only reason the Japanese folded the steel in their katanas in the way they did was because Japanese metal is of a very poor quality. The folding process was simply how they worked out most of the impurities in the metal. In reality, a good katana is no more impressive than a good saber and a good deal less impressive than a Damascus steel weapon.
As for Samurai, this Japanese warrior class was renowned for the way that its warriors all wrote poetry. The reason that the Japanese samurai wrote this poetry was because the Japanese daimyos were afraid of the power that the armed samurai class wielded so they made it mandatory for all samurai to write love poetry to the daimyo. This love poetry would later become what is known now as 'haiku.'
Between the samurai warrior's penchant for writing love poetry to the men whom they swore fealty to as well as the dresses that they wore, the ancient samurai developed a keen ability to have sex with other men. This ritual of mansex was called 大打撃, translated to "great blow."
Compared to the manly things that European knights were required to do, such as punching peasants, wearing heavy armor, and drinking a lot of strong German beer, the Japanese samurai was a very fey and womanlike warrior.
So in conclusion, I believe that a European Knight would defeat a Japanese Samurai.

European Knight fought on a horse with a lance... It was a huge strategic advantage until pole-axes were invented...and remained an advantage until fire arms.

I have to break my code that I said I would not reply because some truths have to be brought forth. Yep, the japanese had a corrupt gay daimyo as well as some of the samurai but which society hasn't. From the Greeks to the Knights everyone had their own little secret societies. In fact, the Greeks (in europe) thought it was good to have sex with little boys to keep them pure but kept it private to hide the sexual penetration embarassment that may have occured. But, since your the Ho's like to try to single out one ethnicity, I'll just think that you were trying to pull another one of those woohoo I have no class and decided to put that out there, things..
