We're at that stage, Novus. You've stated as much in other threads regarding fewer dots being created now.

I just bought the team on a whim. I didn't realize how steep the penalty was. I had the most human dots in the league that is what you all just can't seem to figure out. They want full teams or CPU owners only. I recruited random agents from that league that were on CPU owned teams. I thought they might enjoy having their dots play the way they were intended. The CPUs were so ridiculously overpowered it was like playing a team one or two tiers hire up. I was not looking to dominate with CPUs rather than the human dots I recruited. The team with the most human dots gets penalized while the CPU teams dominate.
It was not a pre-planned team I started at rookie. Not sure how having humans buy teams and start recruiting is making things worse. The agents I recruited were not established accomplished agents with networks and resources. I was trying to make their GLB experience better. It is over now and at this rate those types of agents are going to disappear rather than getting hooked. Soon only the good ol' boys will be left.

To a certain extent, I think it is a hold over from when the leagues were bulging with teams. Some to the point of having 9 leagues in a region. AAA to A, Pro, Rookie, etc, etc. Then again, at that time the game mechanics were different and you could potentially run amok on a league with calling the same 5 plays in a row for a TD.
Is it critical to grab a team and be able to compete now that the size of the leagues page isn't scrolling 5 pages deep and 4 pages wide? I think so, actually. It would bring more faces to ownership and bring more folks to create dots again. This argument is why I believe CPU dots should have OPEN builds.

cpu dots are not overpowered. you dont even need a full roster, just like 41 human dots or something like that. its kind of funny how youve been here for so long and are just figuring out how owning a team works.
