The problem with instant 79s is they will have to drop the minor leagues entirely which I bet they are not willing to do yet. I wish they would though. I would build a bunch of players. I have hit a critical mass of dots in which I do not want to have anymore that I have to regularly keep up with. But if I could slam them all out at once I would build a 55 man team or maybe even two teams again.
Then you have to consider whether they would change the cost structure to make the new 79s available for just 5 seasons, or keep the cost structure and allow them to play plateau for all 12 seasons. If the latter, they will have to find a reasonable transition for the current generations of players who have been spending money to play in the minor leagues.
At this point it is something that they need to consider, but I doubt they are.
Keep both systems then. Insta-build or long-term build. They could make some changes to instant build that made the year-long more advantageous.
OR have insta-builds, but you can do it at different levels so lower levels you would pay less. Then keep the leagues that are capped by level. With insta-build and some not wanting to spend a lot of money, this could be a cheap alternative and would be similar to pee wee where the challenge is that your build is more limited.
So you could, for example, have insta build option of 24, 40, 56, 64, kind of going by eq upgrades as well, and the best savings on flex rate are if you buy a L79. But this would give people a reason to care more about lower levels again, unlike now where most are on cruise control and building for the long-term.
12 seasons I think would be too long for insta build. 6 seasons is a good cycle of dots I think.
The problem would be creation date and avoiding people insta-building halfway through a season. They would have to limit it to the day 40-48 and through preseason range. But that would give you 18 days out of 48 where you could build a dot and that's a good enough range IMO.
To avoid spam WL builds, that's where we'd need to bring back the O play suggestions from users and introduce a couple new formations, and then also loosen the restricitions a bit on the DPC, like more flexible LBer positioning within the set range instead of fiexed, and better positioning across the field for CBs and safeties. This would allow the game to evolve along with the builds.
Other than that I think there is enough in this game to where different strategies lead to success, on both sides of the ball, the sim itself is good now IMO.
Would love for this to lead to a league restructure and have the insta-teams set-up like NCAA basketball, with conferences set-up and a good season, earn a tournament bid and then have the teams compete in a tourney. Basically merging the current league system with the current tournament system. Those who don't make it can earn an NIT bid for the NIT Tourney. That would solve the likely problem that would arise of too many teams b/c of insta-builds, what to do with WL, That or just keep the team cap on, only so many teams allowed and keep Pro and WL set-up as is.
