Meh, our league forum was dead up until I started talking about the games and other people joined in. Nibs is pretty helpful for getting a league forum active. I think what they need is more people to do fluff stuff like rankings and predictions. Gives a bit more for conversation. The upside for GLB2 is it is a work in progress. GLB1 is what it is at this point and is continually falling each season. That isn't a good sign. Still wondering if it is even worth starting a new team here next season.

Glb 2 forums being dead in the first season isn't a good sign.

The only active threads on GLBMain in the last two months have been about how much GLB1 players hate GLB2. At least they have something to talk about now.

There aren't any threads in GLB2 about how GLB1 sucks, I guess they just have better things to talk about.

So, to paraphrase, they created GLB2 so peeps would realize how good GLB1 really is?

The best summary Ive read. If this game ever dies, it will be a death by suicide

keep GLB classic alive by allowing instant 79 dots.... nobody is going to stick around for 15 months to build players for a game that may or may not have any teams, or even exist.

Yeah I've been on this soapbox as well. Even if it were at a scaled penalty for insta-building beyond some level (e.g. up to L40 = no penalty, L64 = 5% penalty per level past 40, L79 = 10% penalty...whatever the math ends up at can be worked out).

That would do 2 things...(1) keep lowest levels of minors available to new players who dont know the game as well & want to compete with each other & (2) give teams at upper levels the ability to rebuild quicker & fill holes more easily without having to do full 15 month resets.

And those 2 things ultimately lead to more competitive teams at the higher levels, which is what everybody says they want.

Whats to hate about this?

I tend to agree with those who think instant 79s only makes sense as the last grab at flex sales before closing the site, but when that time comes it does make sense. My proposal was:

Current GLB1 model after 70% return:
300 flex: 2700 cost from boosts
200 flex: 1800 cost from boosts
100 flex: 900 cost from boosts

300 flex: 225 cost per season
200 flex: 150 cost per season
100 flex: 75 cost per season

Instant level 73 players, can boost to 79, no flex returned:
300 flex: 1800 cost from boosts
200 flex: 1200 cost from boosts
100 flex: 600 cost from boosts

300 flex: 360 cost per season
200 flex: 240 cost per season
100 flex: 120 cost per season

So it satisfies everyone. Veterans can instantly get to plateau but technically you burn through the flex faster, and that's without even considering that you're getting less seasons for your custom equipment costs.

When they brought in 50 testers and only 3 were active after the first week we should've known

Ya I have always been against the insta 79's but it is the only thing that is going to keep this afloat much longer. Nobody wants to go through the pain of Rookie to Pro with so few players to pick from along the way.

Suggest GLB offer flex point incentives if you constructively keep a forum moving. Or better yet, assign forum mod status to a few of the dot builders like the aformentioned peeps and give them some flex per season if they keep their forum active with stats or rankings or predictions.

F**K this guys are half the reason this is still alive.

These things have been suggested over and over fwiw.

i agree, increase the flex cost for instant 79 and id be more than willing to spend money on flex for the instant gratification knowing that if i buy flex i can still use it before the ship sinks or teams gut or whatever.

allow people to create instant players to whatever tier they want... if they want to play rookie ball, let them create dots at that level, national minors, pro whatever level you want, itll allow the people who dont have all the flex to get to pro to play in the mid range levels.

i dunno, its a shot in the dark but it seems like the only hope for such a long build process with a seemingly diminished agent/dotbuilder pool.
