There are personal pride issues in play obviously, but in the larger sense the MVP and HOF systems should function logically.

And wins don't factor into the MVP formula.

Where has this been said? I've always thought winning was a piece of the equation...

Nah, playing on the shittiest team in the league is actually beneficial to winning an MVP if done correctly.

It's not that it's been said anywhere (I can't remember if it has or now), but that all evidence points to the opposite conclusion. Based upon previous MVP winners, winning appears not to affect the formula. Stats, not wins, have always correlated to winning the MVP.

Player B: 1293.47 KR yards (3rd), 18.7 avg (9th), 1.46 KR TDs (3rd), 402.66 PR yards (9th), 10.6 avg (12th), 1.38 PR TD (8th), 0 fumbles.

One of these dots is in first place in the MVP race and the other is in second. Which do think should be in each place and which do you think really is in each place?

MVP voting takes into account off the field (forum) activity as well. Havent you heard?

If that's the case, I'd win every MVP.

No, your dot would be permanently banned from competition.

% of team stats plays way too much a part in mvp, so a player with big stats on a crappy team gets a boost over the same stats on a good team. bort apparently thinks a team mvp is more important than a conference mvp. the mvp should have been someone that actually helps their teams win, not some statwhore on a losing team.

Well apparently from the looks of this thread, it's not that easy.

Anyway we know the formula is jacked, but we also know Bort and his multi Catch22 aren't going to do anything about it.

Exactly. someone real mad that he builds a team just to take ST MVP's and nothing else, and not even that is going right. So let's post in main the whine about it.

No one cares, we've ALL complained about the MVP formula may times, and Bort/Catch are NOT going to change it. Trying to game the system and still losing, too F**king bad, stop crying here over it.

So you're happy that we are currently paying for a game with something that is obviously an error that isn't being fixed?

It's broken because you're not in 1st?

His dot not being in 1st is merely the symptom. Its broken, and the HOF is too.

It's broken because the dot with over 9k more yards and 80+ TDs is not in first. I'd say the same thing if it were different dots.

So I'll ask you, do you think an MVP system is working if a dot with 9k+ more yards, 80+ more TDs, higher averages, 0 fumbles, and who accounts for most of his team's points and yards should be in second place here? Try to separate your hate and jealousy from your analysis and give a rational, logical answer.

The dot in 1st place is on a team that has won 6 games. Your dot is on a team that has won 2. While your dot has scored the majority of your team's points, the dot in 1st place is on a team that's in playoff contention. Your argument is like saying Matthew Stafford was a better MVP candidate than Russell Wilson last year. Stafford had some gaudy stats, but his team was garbage. Russell helped his team to a playoff berth.

Winning may not be a component of the MVP formula, but logically an MVP shouldn't come from a team that has no chance of making the playoffs. You think they're going to give the heisman to a guy on a 3-9 team but posted incredible stats? NO
