I want agents who are going to invest themselves a little in my team. Why would I want someone who is so lazy that they just auto-accept the first offer they get? That guy's probably gonna be gone at the end of the season, and then I have to recruit AGAIN to replace him. But the guy who reads my PM and gets into a conversation with me, I have a chance to win him over for life. He's not just committing a dot to me today, but he may also be the guy who builds 5 new dots for my next Rookie team 3 seasons down the road.

Because we don't "auto accept" the first offer we get. We want to choose a team without a bunch of static coming from multiple owners/recruiters. I think you give the agents far too little credit.

Seriously, FAs don't care about all that shit. I'm just looking for the right team for my dot. Not finding a soul mate.

Nope. I did a lot of cold-calling this past season to a lot of agents who I never see post anywhere in the forums.

Sorry to argue with you so much, but I'm always amused when someone tells me something doesn't work when it's working just fine for me right now.

You've got an admin, former mods, former owners of notable teams, people I recognize from the forums, and inactives.

That's you.

You're not all agents. You're also not necessarily the type of agent I'm looking for in the first place. *shrug*

Maybe you're not auto-accepting the first offer, but you're still using awfully shallow criteria to pick a team. And someone who uses such shallow criteria is probably gonna be gone at the end of the season anyway.

If I fill an opening for just one season and have to recruit a replacement for them next season, I don't view that as a recruiting success.

That's not 100% of the agents on the Palookas and Paladins. A good chunk of them, sure, but not all of them.

Also, the vast majority of the agents on the Palookas are agents who signed with one of my teams 15-20 seasons ago or so -- because I sent them a PM to recruit them once upon a time. They joined my team, liked how I do things, and they've stuck around since then. But it all started with a single PM.

Expert at recruiting? No.

Better at recruiting than you? Yes.

For your purposes, that second sentence matters far more than the first.

If someone else who is truly a recruiting expert posts in here, feel free to disregard everything I've posted. But until they show up, I'm all you've got, cupcake.

lol

You still can't comprehend that sending great PMs doesn't mean shit when people don't open them.

My way of recruiting is telling someone we won a silver 2 seasons ago, went 16-0 last season, and had #1 offense when we went silver and #1 defense last season.

GG

still lose dots to casual

HELLO AGENT YOU ARE SHITTY AT PICKING TEAMS!

i think you guys are taking recruiting too seriously. i send one PM to an agent for any dot i want from him. it's never long. i just let them know 90% of my dots are there until decline so we can be a long term or short term home and i boost my awesome DC.

i get commitments very easily, especially for someone who sucks at OCing and always fucks up in the playoffs. if i can keep a full roster every season for the last like 10 seasons when i had 3 teams going, you guys should be able to easily.

That statement assumes that all PMs go unread.

"Most" and "all" are not the same thing. Some of those PMs will be read.

You do have to keep your PMs short in order to minimize the time-lost from most of them going un-read. But some people will read it. The goal is to turn as many of those people as possible into committed dots.

...

Seriously, man, sending PMs works great for me. Sorry it doesn't work for you, but "it doesn't work for me" doesn't mean the same thing as "it doesn't work for anyone."

Not to mention, if your way is so much better than mine, why are your teams currently at 31 dots, 38 dots, and 22 dots, while my teams are at 55 dots and 53 dots?

Recruiting by PM works -- if you do it the right way.
