You can have both, but the AI takes precedence. If you have both, the basic presets will only apply if there's a gap in your AI somewhere.

I ran my basic preset which is geared toward defending the pass along with the pass focus AI. I got destroyed through the air in today's game. what went wrong?

That, and the CPU threw the ball 71 times. Pass 71 times and they are bound to get some yards.

so how would u evaluate the performance by the defense? good? bad? i'm just looking on ways to change it up in whatever way i can

Nothing to really evaluate. CPU dots and you used basic.

the offensive guys that played on defense actually played pretty solidly. a few missed tackles here and there but they made some plays

i honestly dont have the time to learn all that stuff. if they didnt want people to use basic, they wouldnt have it in the game

Doesn't change the fact that the basic presets all suck.

i use my own basic preset that i made by myself along with the preset AI

so basic presets basically do nothing, even if i make them myself?

Sounds like you are looking more for a role as DC on a casual team. pee-wee tactics are far more in depth than any simple planning will do. If simple is what you want, you want to look at casual leagues.

Just like a real DC you have to study tape and create gameplans tailored to each opponent. It takes time, and a couple seasons experience playing around with the AI to get a feel for it. There is a learning curve.
