Eh, I don't think many people quit over the sim. They quit over everything but the sim. Burnout, boredom, moderator harassment, seeming admin indifference, etc. The ones who did quit because of the game were usually over fluky playoff results, but nothing will ever prevent that no matter how good the sim gets.
Forum > Goal Line Blitz > What do you think needs to be done to bring GLB back to a very enjoyable game?

I have owned and coordinated teams. People complained when the team performed too well (and I could understand their complaints) that it wasn't fair that an employee of the site was taking away trophies from paying customers. It was at that point I decided I would no longer own and coordinate a team. I still build dots though and usually all it takes for me to build a dot for a team is for someone to actually take the time to send me a private message asking if I will.
Hell, I might even build 2-3 if you ask nicely enough.
sure I remember, but iirc the team you coordinated didn't do all that great? it was the team you both owned /and/ coordinated that people cried foul about. which to me is laughable and understandable, at the same time. lol
but have you ever owned a team full of others' dots? and w/ regular joes as your coordinators?

long time agents...boredom/cost
new agents....player building that makes no sense (because of the ALGs mostly) and bad SIM at lower levels because of the builds. Also cost here as well for the value they experience.
These are the causes of most of the games problems imho.
Lower costs and elimination of the ALGs, but i don't know that even that would help at this point. I am afraid they waited too long to make these changes (not that they ever would anyway).

I'd like to see a more proactive leadership than reactive. initiate league rankings and 'game of the week' threads in the various league forums, sticky/move the really good suggestions, own/coordinate teams, have players spread around other teams etc.
actually play the game with us again, ya know. that'd be cool.
More activity from the staff. Not so much on the owning/coordinating teams part, but if you had admins or mods doing games of the week and league rankings, it would really boost your league forum activity, increasingly shit talking and rivalries, and bring back the love and hate from earlier seasons. Hell it doesn't even have to be admins or mods, it could be a newly created position that gets a small flex compensation to run those things. When Teabaggers first got to SEAPro, and Texan was doing the write ups, those were the best seasons.

SEA Pro was the most fun Ive had on here. The forums were great, the comp level was great, they people there were great. Most of my friend on GLB still are from SEA pro back in the day
Getting forum participation back up in leagues would help a lot, but competitiveness has to mean more for that to happen but it doesn't save for wl and some pros.
Maybe reduce leagues and teams and add more player trophies that actually mean something, even go by position as well as overall. Trophies fir players have needed an update for a long, long time now. Also fixing the seasonal position rankings would help. Having broken or irrelevant things in the game for seasons on end only hurts the game.
Maybe merge leagues into 4 divisions within 2 conferences and a playoff format similar to nfl, with 4 or 5 teams per division with division winners and a couple wildcards getting in.
Just some ideas.

Why do you keep repeating this when you've been embarrassed over it sooooooooooooooooo many times? Just because you can't figure out ALGs doesn't mean they're bad for the game. The complexity of player building and the never-ending pursuit of a better build than you made the last time is the main reason this game still exists after five years.

I remember playing this game in season 1... in season 8... in season 14... and the current iteration of the game is much better than any of those versions. Whenever you have an online game like this go on for the length of time it has, there is going to be a perception that things aren't as good as they should be... that more could be done... etc; etc; You simply can't please everyone in an online game so it is a developer's job to maintain some type of balance and I think Bort and GLB has done a good job of doing this. The game might not be perfect but it accomplishes most of what it sets out to do and that's to provide an enjoyable and interactive football role playing game.
Bottom line is...
We still work on GLB (the changelog proves this)...
We still talk about and discuss GLB with the users (we just had a live Q & A)...
We still love GLB and have no plans on it going anywhere despite working on other projects. This is, and always will be, the game that got Warrior General Games rolling and it still has too many positives (one of those being a very dedicated and passionate userbase) for us to ever consider giving up on it.

"You know Lloyd, just when I think you couldn't be any dumber, you go and do something like this, and totaly redeem yourself!"
