I know it doesn't have a true physics engine like Halo and CoD thats why I said "'physics' engine". I was referring to their formulas and algorithms for how the players move around. Physics refers to things in motion and the dots are in motion and the engine referred to the series of code they have for (what I think is) Java.

It truly isn't hard to "copy/paste" some code and tweak it to cater to another sport and its skills. If they finish up GLB by 2014 then they could easily have another sport out of beta by 2015.

Ill put it like this, lets say the scripters stop working and the game is now complete and this is all figuratively speaking and I know a lot more goes into what I am going to say but for the sake of a quick 10min write up

For physical and mental attributes

Dots accelerate at 1.345 ticks a second till they reach max speed with 80 agility
In the new sport this can be the same or just toned down by a percentage if abuse occurs

Dots move at 6 ticks a second at 120 speed
Again the same for basketball

If their vision is 60 they have a 65% chance of getting a vision check correctly

Again, same

So basically Attributes like speed, agility, jumping, strength, confidence, stamina, vision etc still works the same as GLB on a football field except now it’s a basketball version (with little tweaks to accomadate the smaller court and other basketball related things), this is what I was referring to when I said “pyshics” engine even though its not a true physics engine by many standards especially with things like stamina and vision

For Skills:

Chances of catching a ball is 80% at 80 catching minus the defenders swat/KL probability and ticks away from receiver

This one just change catching to shooting, obviously more catches are caught then shots made so just get a rough ratio of how it is in real life and tweak the formula

Chances of a fumble is (Str lvl(.6) + tackling(.4)-(ball carrier str(.6)+ball carrier carrying(.4) and if the result is >10 then a fumble occurs(I know a lot more goes into that like confidence, morale, stamina, VP,SAs)
For this just change strength to agility, tackling into stealing, carrying into ball handling and fumble to steal, again I know in basketball steal happen a lot more than fumbles so maybe make that >2 instead for steals

And so on and so forth for holding/breaking blocks, fakes, and good passes

So basically if they moved all those formulas to a basketball court with switching some attributes for others which would depend of archtypes of positions, Then change skills like throwing into shooting, carrying into ball handling, kicking into free throws, tackling into stealing, catching into passing, and so on and so forth. Could also just replace the football VAs, SAs, AEQ pieces into basketball ones

Bonus Tokens, Training Points, VP, Soft Caps can all work the same as before with some tweaks if there are more/less attributes than football

Playbooks, substitutes, recruiting, league organization, stadium, concessions, endorsements and etc can also be implemented---stuff like this would be a breeze to put into another game since GLB already owns the applications

Figure that’s a year of testing and tweaking?

If I sound stupid I'll shutup.

Game is quite obviously perl, with the .pl and such

yeah I have no idea what they used for scripting I just knew they had Java replays so figured they might also have some java scripters

edit: or are those flash replays? idk idc

im sorry, but whatever you have envisioned in your mind about the way this game is programmed is im guessing pretty much the complete opposite of how it is programmed

i'd venture to guess there is no "physics engine" that the game calls upon to calculate rolls...it just calculates the rolls. When a player tries to pass a vision check for, say, seeing a blitzer...it just does it on the spot with it's own variables, it probably doesnt call from a mythological physics engine to see if 60 vision is enough to pass a generic vision check

at least thats what ive gathered from testing for a year or two and paying attention for half that time

but of course, that is only the tip of the iceberg in your assumptions

i'd probably say best bet is like 5-10% of the actual sim code can be copied over, best case scenario

and even then, you have to take into account that glb was just a garage project by someone in their spare time, so im sure the actual sim code is a clusterfuck and should be rewritten from scratch anyway

Makes sense, transfer over the speed, agility, strength, vision... just keep it all, and it would be a smooth move over to Curling.

What are you guys talking about?
There is no physics coding in a tycoon management game...Especially one involving ping pong mafia gangs.
