It's not so much that there are NO new users... but that there's no overall growth. Old players aren't spending as much money so there's less flex to build less dots, some either leave or stop altogether and just wait for better days. New players get quickly frustrated by the cost to playability ratio because 98% of the human race wants instant gratification/results and that just doesn't happen here. Without growth, you have stagnation and with that you have apathy towards the game... not a good vision of a long term future.

Actually, a shitload of old users have left and there really aren't many new users is a more accurate assessment.

It's encouraging that Bort/Catch acknowledge this as a problem based on their interest in presets and this offseason's AI contest. i do believe bort/catch see the problems but i'm not really enthused by the first wave of solutions to it - the contest. it's worthless when the DC is forced to use the bort preset DPC. it just is; you've removed effectively most DCs that have the meta knowledge of this game with that caveat. (not that this guy would necessarily participate ...). i know i've just re-iterated what you've said but i'm pretty sure catch knows my feelings on most of it, and i'm not even understanding how that's a good first step.

if you are going to continue with the concept of AI and DPC and whatever, then the interface needs a drastic overhaul. as the game continues to contract, the only guys left are the experience die hards that have become warm to complexity of things as they've been added over the seasons piece-meal.

no one wants to hear it, not the least of which the WL folks ... but the solution is a great simplification of the entire coordinating process. realizing that you probably lose most of us in WL atm.

nowadays the game doesn't have such a drastic spread in build quality .. there just isn't enough folks out there building now. the game is completely stagnating at the coordinating level. it's why guys like ghuff can rotate through 3 or so AI's across DS and promote teams into WL and/or have a couple shots each season in the playoffs.

the folks that wanted a non-changing sim cuz we are out of beta ... newsflash - it's boring as shit! while i understand what bort/catch were wanting to accomplish (and i think it's worked persay) it has made the entire season quite dull. i know i'm not alone in that. the process is breaking down when there aren't new folks coming in and finding this all exciting and new and interesting.

unfortunately i do believe you need to push the dinosaurs out of WL and grow the game differently. this includes myself and most of the folks i like in this game

Yeah, I had two of the top five omvp finalists in that league, both HBs. If I had used one back it would have been clinched.

Networks have always been bad for the game as a whole, but better for that particular group. I used to rail against this in the early seasons, but it is pretty clear that Bert & co embraced them from the beginning, and they now are a necessary evil. I've belonged to a few of them, current Legacy member, but my own teams have always been independent........

Evileyez is pretty much spot-on. And pretty spot-on that it won't happen. And we'll be left, with a great idea that died on the vine....... could have been sooooooo much more TBPH.
