well it just seems that way cuz most of the +3's are the useless one's that you dont want

like +3 confidence or +3 stamina are something that isn't your main

then when you get one, it's with some useless SA or %

What I don't get is how so many get sucked into this trap. I set my limits on each piece as to just how many BT's I'm willing to spend just to "refresh" and find a piece. Usually I can get what I want fairly easy because my criteria is a simple progression. (below... in order of importance...)
#1, I want a 5% piece with a +3 to my primary skill.
#2, I will accept a 5% piece and add the +3.
#3, I will accept a +3 and add the 5%.
#4, when approaching the LIMIT of how much I'm willing to spend in BT's to "roll for a piece" I will...
#5, accept a 5% piece with a +2.
#6, accept a +2 and add in my 5%.
#7, accept a +3 with a primary SA bonus.

So many simply will NOT accept anything less than the 5% and +3... or will NOT accept anything less than a +3 without the extra... and therefore end up spending so many BT's that they actually LOSE out in overall cost effectiveness. (Please note I kinda DO draw the line at accepting less than a 5% piece... especially since I can always accept the +2 and add in the 5% part.) I won't say I want, nor like, having to accept less... but sometimes it's the smarter road of choice overall. Remember... you aren't just shopping for 1 piece... you're shopping for 3 or 4 pieces. You're just doing it one at a time.

This wouldn't surprise me. I have had a lot of trouble finding anything worthwhile for my returners lately. It's like +5% fake chance doesn't even exist in the store anymore. I already had to retire one that ran through something like 100+ BTs and didn't find a single +5% BT, Fake, or NF piece and would be retiring another returner if he wasn't built specifically to run up stats in reg pro (and thus doesn't need to be great).

Because you clearly struggle to get the point. At level 71 there is no point to waiting any longer since that's the point at which you receive the maximum number of choices per shopping attempt. Meanwhile if at level 71 you still can't find even an acceptable partial piece then something is wrong, especially if you only have one or zero pieces thus far and therefore can accept a wide range of possibilities at any body position. Also, your advice to accept +2 pieces is simply awful. The absolute only scenario in which that is acceptable is if you're already at plateau and won't have the bonus tokens to do anything else. For all other cases you're better off spending the tokens to build a +3 piece than to accept a +2 one.

You're missing the point as well. Shopping for very specific items (gloves with +3 attribute, +X) requires luck. Seeing only two +3 speed items (one with an undesirable suffix) in 488 chances suggests that the player in question either isn't flagging as the appropriate position or else the odds of getting speed equipment while shopping for a HB are exceedingly low. The fact that very few break tackle pieces also showed up in those 488 chances, compared with lots of hold block, also suggests that maybe the wrong position is flagging or else the HB odds are somehow off. Granted, it's entirely possible that I simply had astoundingly bad luck, but 488 chances makes that pretty unlikely. It's worth checking just to make sure there is no bug and that the odds are what they're supposed to be.

I will say I've never rolled 40 times in a row, though.

Then I wish you luck. I simply haven't had an issue with this at all since I stopped rolling for pieces late in my dot's careers. I did that twice and it sucked like hell. Read in the forums about people getting their AEQ earlier... and about PLANING OUT their AEQ purchases... and have done that ever since with absolutely no issues. In fact, I recently learned about an additional strategy that I haven't tried yet and am seriously considering it next batch of dots that hit AEQ purchase levels.
I will still disagree with you though as I believe that settling for 1... ONE less point in a skill through AEQ is WORTH the 50+ BT's you wasted trying for perfection. That same 50 BT's equals 2 points into that same skill that you LOST by searching for 1 more. Dude... I respect you so this isn't dissing on you at all... it's just a disagreement of thought. Peace.

What? No, it doesn't. 50 bonus tokens won't even come close to the value of an attribute point well over 100, which all equipment should be.

I'm not sure I'm following you... or that you understand me. It costs 30 BT's per point of improvement of SP in a skill for each AEQ upgrade. 50 BT's is pretty damn close to 60... which you can get through your last trains and such... which equals +2 points of skill in your AEQ piece. By wasting 50 or more BT's re-rolling and re-rolling just to get that +3 piece, you've effectively wasted the +2 points you would've gotten by settling for less (the +2 piece instead of the +3). There simply comes a point of diminishing returns in your investment and it's what the casinos count on when they put slot machines out. That someone will simply keep putting money into them to hit the "big one" even after they've won several little ones. The smart gambler will quite when ahead more often than go for broke. That's what I was trying to say to you. I get it that a +3 beats a +2 piece... I don't agree on spending 50 or more BT's just to accomplish that... because every 30 BT's you spend is one less +1 you can add to the piece later.

There is an upper limit on how many times equipment can be upgraded. What you say would only be true if there wasn't.

If I end up with 363 BTs and can't get the +3/+SA (368 BT piece = low SA cost at 18) then will nab a +2 attribute to off-set it. Why not? Maybe better the cash in for 24 SPs. Depends on build mostly though I tend to go for 4 AEQ on them all. As for rolling - I roll 2x per 10th starting at level 41. Sometimes you get lucky and get a good piece. But rolling over and over and over and over again is just not good. It's like playing the lottery over and over and expecting some big payout just because you sank so much cash into it. Don't think I've ever had a player that hasn't nabbed a couple good/workable pieces of AEQ from store.

Not sure what someone is thinking rolling 40 times for a piece. WTF?
