I'm gonna have to agree with this statement. I used to play an arcade game that was very much oriented around the building process. You could then take your players with you because the information was stored on a magnetic card. Somebody used a credit card reader off of ebay to crack the code. Once they did that and figured out how to rewrite the data on the cards, it started the biggest boom of the game for the next year in competitive play. Everyone could have a maxed out, perfect card to play with.
It was then all about the skill of the people playing the game. I was one of the most successful players in that game, and made it to the finals of all four "Major" tournaments held in 2005 (Hence the Mr. Majors moniker). I traveled around the country to play a video game and I won thousands of dollars while doing it.
However, after the card reader emerged, a lot of people didn't see any improvement in their performance...they still got their ass kicked and lost their money....so they just quit playing. Then because all of the serious players had their perfect cards, they never spent time playing in an effort to make better ones. Because no one was around in the arcades, new players didn't get involved nearly as often. Eventually, the game just dwindled away.
This isn't a perfect example of how GLB would be affected, but I think it would be fairly accurate. If every team in WL had equally talented rosters, it would all come down to the coordinators. Aside from that, there would be a few experimental teams/player builds that might change things up for a brief time. After a few seasons, there would be very little left to learn for the vets and the biggest complaints on the boards would be how teams got screwed by the RNG . New players would be discouraged from participating because they wouldn't have the necessary knowledge to build a player or run a team with any chance of success.
I don't particularly like how long it takes to build a player up to lvl 79, but I couldn't get behind a system where dots took any less than three seasons to complete. However, it wouldn't make financial sense for GLB to leave those players with five seasons of plateau. Two would be more likely. In that case, if you wanted to build a team from the ground up, you would have to win your pro league in your first season of plateau, and then only get one season in WL. If you wanted to keep a team in WL, you would need an even more continuous stream of dots in the works to keep your roster competitive.
