Actually, regarding why people who attack me are pretty much never punished, I've been told that it's because I did not use the report function. I don't know whether or not that's GLB policy, but evidently some moderators believe (or at least say) that you can't ban for things that aren't reported.

@Novus: So long as the forum moderation is handled by humans, it'll never be totally unbiased.
And I'd argue that it shouldn't be anyways.
User history, posting patterns, etc. should count for something.

i have been told the same thing, because i dont report them back, they dont get punished.
so because im not a snitch, people dont get treated equally? But my stalkers can report almost every post of mine with no recourse because i dont report people. sounds fair to me

I'd have to ask the mod why he locked it. But it seems like he was trying to prevent the discussion from escalating to where something bad did happen. In which case, what a nice gesture to just lock a thread instead of waiting until something bad happened.
I'm not sure about jd's OP ban tbh.
And it doesn't always happen, but some Mods do read the thread/context and handle both sides appropriately.

I probably should've just Reported it and left it alone, but instead I responded back with a similarly-worded insult of my own. I got bant. They didn't. And when I appealed, I got told the same thing: they didn't get punished because I didn't Report them. Never mind that I quoted their insult in my reply, so whichever Mod bant me had to have seen both insults when looking at my post.
But that appeal also got my ban overturned. So, yay?
