How do you suggest fixing it and still insuring the return specialist has a chance to pick up the ball before the defense gets to it?

if he can't then he can't,
thats what u get for using a DE as a KR

What is the fix though? The OP you made just says don't make players stop running down field. That will cause other potential problems like teams reaching the ball before the returner (when it bounces past a slow returner). This could cause teams to score hundreds of points in a bad set up and slow down overall simming when those crop up.

How should they keep going? Do they stay in lanes? do they head at the returner before he has the ball? do they just follow the ball?

What happens when you get situations where a team has a lot of fast players that reach the BW and get stuffed when the returner gets the ball and then runs for TD's all game because they have no one down field that have a chance of cutting him off? Then we'll have to change it again.

I'm all for making ST adjustments, but they have to be made thoughtfully. I've been hoping for changes for 15 seasons, but look at what happened when they changed how returners run. For 10+ seasons we had punts where the returner would basically jerk back and forth on the sidelines trying to juke/evade people and end up barely able to move. Then it was changed and player on the sidelines got stuck so that they have to run straight ahead and plow right into anyone in their way.

If you can come up with some specific ways to change the ST on kickoffs maybe that don't break something else maybe they would do it. Add some idea's to the OP.

how is that any worse than an overmatched team fumbling kick-off after kick-off?

IN FACT IT IS MUCH MUCH BETTER!
KICK-OFFS CAN BE RECOVERED BUT NOT ADVANCED BY THE KICKING TEAM!!!
UNLIKE FUMBLES!!!
SO STOP SCREAMING THAT THE SKY IS FALLING WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YR TALKING ABOUT!

Kickoffs and punts do need to be fixed.....but say if the kicking team gets to it first, it shouldn't go back to the kicking team.
It should be counted as a downed ball and the receiving team should take over on offense from the spot that a kicking team member touches it.

That would make perfect sense, if it can be coded that way.

If the pathing on kickoffs is not fixed, then I agree with this. Even if the pathing is fixed, I probably still agree with this. Otherwise blowouts would get even more lopsided. I think just downing the ball and not giving possession to the kicking team is enough of a penalty to the returning team.

because thats not how it works. Also nothing i've read in this suggestion would be a valid way to handle it other than possibly downing the ball when touched by the kicking team. I don't think this would really be the way to go however. Also the OP never states any alternative than "allow the kicking team to recover the ball" which is pretty much NGTH.

This isn't real life, you have to make allowance for teams that aren't well off on special teams or low level to get a shot to pick up the ball and return it. Instead of having teams boom kicks over a teams returner all game long, grab the ball and run it in for TD's over and over.

Here is what it says on the main page of the website.

"Goal Line Blitz is a web-based American Football MMORPG. We've written a custom football simulation engine to provide you with the ultimate football experience on the web.

Do you love fantasy football? Ever wished you could play with the pros? Join other football fans from around the world in building the player and team of your dreams, right here."

So while this isn't real life, it is supposed to simulate real football. In real football the kicking team can recover on kick offs after the ball has traveled 10 yards. That is the solution. This entire forum gives -1's all the time to suggestions that "coddle" bad agents and the such. So here is a solution that does not do that, and also emulates the rules of the real game.
