That's kinda funny 'bout Onterrio too, but really it's shameful. I remember seeing him the few times he was on the field an Tennessee and he was very, very good. What a waste of talent

Prolly, but like I was saying, no AK's (Florida), no Mafia (Ohio State), no hate crimes (LSU), no kidnapping (San Diego State), no Willie Williams (Miami), no coke (Miami) (Alabama, 5 times in one week to the same undercover cop)

It's all weed and club fights and most of that came in the offseason right before the 5-6 season. Throw out that offseason and we're no different from any other school. The thing is, a ton of college students around the country get arrested for DUI, fighting, weed, etc. It's magnified when you're a "student-athlete".

I know Notre Dame doesn't have these problems, but they have the higher standards of acceptance like Duke, Vandy, etc. That is why they've become less dominant in recent years. They have trouble getting the highly rated recruits because of that. It's tough to recruit just on tradition and academics these days no?

Also, if you lived in Indiana and not Tennessee, you wouldn't have heard about half that stuff.

If Alabama does not have 32 kids sign then ND has the #1 recruiting class. We have the kids now but they are not thugs. Weis has done a wonderful job the last two years with that. This is his 4th season. ND will beat Michigan, write that down.

I only put a little faith in the actual class rankings, it's more about how they pan out.

For instance, Jimmy Clausen, he may still pan out, but so far he hasn't lived up to his recruit ranking.

On the other hand, UT did not have a highly ranked class, but Eric Berry, Gerald Jones, Lennon Creer, and Dennis Rogan have been fantastic.

Ohio State will beat Youngstown St., write THAT down.

Come on be serious, Eric Berry was the #1 CB in the nation. Jimmy Clausen was a human punching bag last year. The kid is tough. He was a TRUE freshman QB with nothing around him. No one plays good in those circumstances. Pan out? He played as a true freshman did you think he would win the heisman? ND gets 100% of the kids they sign in school unlike Alabama and TN. Brady Quinn was terrible his freshman ans sophomore years and we all know how that ended.

I was talking about the class as a whole. Tennessee's class wasn't even in the top 25, and the only reason they were close was Eric Berry. He also had nothing around him last year in the secondary and still went off. I don't care if you have nothing around you, if you're the #1 QB recruit in the nation when you're a JUNIOR in high school, there is no excuse for being benched in your 3rd college game. Look at Eric Ainge, sure, he was no all-star by any means, but he was the 26th pro-style QB out of high school but panned out into a very good starter his TRUE freshman year and ended up having a pretty good career at Tennessee.

How do you explain Gerald Jones then?

Also, if he had nothing else around him, where were the highly ranked recruits ND got? One #1 QB doesn't make a class a top ten class.

My whole point, however, is that recruit rankings don't mean much. Notre Dame has trouble bringing high level talent across the board because they don't take the thuggery, which is admirable, but doesn't help avoid severly bad seasons like last year during a rebuild or a 5-6 season like Tennessee had in its rebuild.

He had a bunch of freshman and Sophomores around him. He did not get benched. He did not start b/c he had elbow surgery and missed Spring Ball. UT had alot more talent than ND last year. This year things are different. I would much rather have a top 2 class than the top 50 class UT just put together.

Yeah, forgot about that elbow surgery.

Don't worry about UT's class, it was all filler. The only thing we lost was Erik Ainge, and I think we'll be better with Crompton.

Compton thinks he is a tough guy b/c he ran over a LB that did not know he was brainless and thought he would slide. Crompton will get hurt next year. He has WR size and FB mentality. Might be a tough guy but will get hurt. UT's season will be dictated by the UCLA game. Win and they could do good things, lose and it is all down hill.
