I think I can offer a good perspective. HHWC has lost some scrims/tourney games the last few seasons and we've won some tournaments as well as won and lost pro and WL playoff/championship games.
Without a doubt. Scrims are lolscrims because you don't know how much either team tries. In most cases teams could care less even in the final stages of tournaments because the whole showing your your cards thing. The only thing that matters in the end is playoff games. Pro or WL. That's the only time you are 100% sure that both teams are letting it all hang out.
We haven't gameplanned for a scrim probably ever and we've lost and won tournaments. They are very fun and entertaining to see how you play against teams outside your conference. But teams claiming to be the best Pro team evar based on scrims is just funny to most people. It's really about having fun, so let the disussion continue. Nobody will ever know who is trying until they meet in the playoffs

Ranked scrimmages and tournaments are the only way that Pro teams can demonstrate quality now that Pro leagues themselves are so watered down. It's fair to say that they aren't equal to regular season games between World League teams, but again, Pro teams don't have that opportunity. And just for the record, Providence has had the same DAI all season long except for the Blaze tournament scrimmage, so it's not as if we beat HHWC and Alpine because we were trying while they weren't.

That's a long post for someone who supposedly doesn't try.

Maybe you missed my point. Most teams don't try in scrims. And I think that is true when we won tournaments and when we lost tournaments. That's it.
Your team has shown they can beat good teams or at least match up with them. Mission accomplished. Just don't kid yourself with the best Pro team of all time crap.
Yea, scrims are kind of a lottery because a lot depends on the AI you had in place the previous game and if it matches up well with the team you're scrimming. If you just played a team that likes to pitch right a ton out of Iform in WL and planned for it and then the team you scrim likes to pitch left it could be bad news. Same for if you set your TE/HB/FB blocking for a team who doesn't like to blitz in certain situation/formations and then the team you scrim does. It goes both ways obviously but it's a crap shoot when the teams are relatively evenly matched.
I mean, i understand why the pro teams cling to them so desperately since it's all they really have with the exception of winning gold in their league but to expect people to bow before them is silly. Unfortunately, prov, jebs, rirw, shockers, etc... just have to wait till next season in WL

Me too. But that's not saying anything as both are different than playoffs where everything is on the line.
