ok ok

jazz/soul/pop/rock/hip-hop... ever since i went to audio engineering school, i stopped liking indie rock and those pop punk/metal bands that are made up of 19 year olds with fancy hair that could effectively be replaced by any of the 23 million other bands that exist of the same genre.

jazz: chick corea, hiromi uehara, herbie hancock, and any of the legends of old, like coltrane, jimmy williams, etc... i tend to prefer fusion.

soul: john legend is probably my favorite musical artist right now. also alicia keys, corinne bailey rae, and of course the classics like stevie wonder, marvin gaye, luther vandross...

pop: the whole timbaland empire pretty much. i live in hollywood, so im surrounded by clubs and ultralounges. nobody owns any club more than timbaland.

rock: only the weird bands really. radiohead, zero 7, mogwai, cinematic orchestra (probably jazz), experimental, down-tempo stuff for the most part... oh, and i was raised on frank zappa.

hip-hop: kanye west, common, jay-z (for when i happen to be in vegas), the pharcyde, tribe called quest

funny someone mentioned deftones too... i dropped out of college once because i spent too much time on tour and/or in sacramento with those guys. i dont talk to them anymore though, im a workaholic now and they have way too much drama in their lives, i cant deal with it.

also i cant really enjoy their music anymore unless im in a strip club.

See, that wasn't so hard was it?
Coltrane is still god, and Tom Yorke kills my schoolresults every year...
But I'm more of a funk man, love Maceo Parker and Tower of power...
