And no i am not on Tecmo and yes I hate cane__________boy

I've heard other people argue the same point, but the counterpoint to that is usually something along the lines of.... ST can still score points for you through KR/PR and FG's. So anything that scores points (or helps you score points by shortening the field with better returns) is still pretty valuable.

And, since I'm inclined to agree that field position is pretty important, then I thought the ST ranked as 2/16ths of the overall was reasonable.

When you compare the leagues by average team ranking, you get this:

BBB#3 ----50.64
BBB#5 ----50.50
BBB#8 ----50.47
BBB#16 ----50.38
BBB#4 ----50.34
BBB#7 ----49.59
BBB#10 ----49.41
BBB#12 ----49.34
BBB#13 ----49.30
BBB#6 ----49.15
BBB#9 ----48.78
BBB#14 ----48.77
BBB#11 ----48.63
BBB#1 ----48.22
BBB#2 ----47.92
BBB#15 ----47.33

And when you look at the highest ranking in each league, you find this:

BBB#4 ----1
BBB#12 ----2
BBB#8 ----3
BBB#2 ----4
BBB#15 ----5
BBB#1 ----6
BBB#6 ----7
BBB#16 ----11
BBB#10 ----17
BBB#11 ----19
BBB#7 ----20
BBB#14 ----21
BBB#9 ----26
BBB#5 ----32
BBB#3 ----35
BBB#13 ----42

Thanks,

Cool...I guess BBB#3 IS the most competitive.

I think its the least competitive actually. Lowest numbers mean best ranking.
BBB#13 is the toughest league I think according to this.

Actually, I probably used incorrect wording there, and explained it poorly. The first set of numbers is actually the average overall score of the conference, so a higher number there indicates better statistical performance compared to the other leagues.

The second set of numbers is the highest ranked team in the conference, so to highlight #13, there is no team ranked higher than #42 (out of 512) in BBB#13.

However, remember that since no teams from any league played teams from other leagues, then any direct comparison will be flawed, and isn't really a valid comparison....although it can still be fun

If you want to look at which leagues/conferences have the most even teams, that would be the Standard deviation numbers that I posted (at the end of page 2), where BBB#2 has the lowest value indicating that the teams in BBB#2 are closest together in the overall rankings, and are therefore the most evenly matched.

Yup.

Since no teams played inter-conference games, there is no way to directly compare leagues/conferences to determine who is better.

So even though the top team in BBB#13 was ranked 42nd, that in no way means they couldn't beat the top ranked team overall, or the top ranked team in any BBB league. That would be fun to find out, but it sure won't be determined by these rankings.

(Although if someone wants to propose to Bort that my rankings be used to seed a BBB wide playoff (16-32 teams), I'd be fine with that....lol)

It just happened to work out that BBB#13 was pretty even (3rd in the standard deviation rank) across the league, so they had more competitive games, and therefore less big stat run-ups, which didn't allow anyone to really shine in my stat rankings.

Good work putting all this together. You'll always find someone who isn't happy with the way things are. There is another two teams with same names.

82----Albuquerque Isotopes----BBB#11------------73.61--------77.92 (55)----70.74 (124)----68.61 (96)
83----Albuquerque Isotopes----BBB#5------------73.61--------77.92 (55)----70.74 (124)----68.61 (96)

I'm thinking these stats came from the #11 team.

edit: saw another

119----Birmingham Bombers----BBB#11------------68.40--------58.30 (172)----81.67 (73)----57.31 (179)
120----Birmingham Bombers----BBB#10------------68.40--------58.30 (172)----81.67 (73)----57.31 (179)

193----Chicago Storm----BBB#6------------56.98--------61.91 (144)----51.56 (249)----58.69 (168)
194----Chicago Storm----BBB#11------------56.98--------61.91 (144)----51.56 (249)----58.69 (168)

249----Denver Stallions----BBB#10------------49.46--------49.95 (231)----49.14 (269)----48.82 (248)
250----Denver Stallions----BBB#14------------49.46--------49.95 (231)----49.14 (269)----48.82 (248)

yeah stickman,

it seems that all team scores are derived at the expense of another team in the same league. an O can't have a good score without lowering the sores of the D's of other teams in the same league. so i don't understand how you could generate any inter league comparisons from taking an average of the scores in a league.

I can find an average score because I just took the stats for each of the 512 teams, then ranked those, rather than ranking them within each league. I can then find the values for the 32 teams in each league, and use those to compute a league average.

Additionally, since the offense stats and the defense stats are not directly opposed using the two doesn't lead to the canceling out to zero.

Hope that helps.

Good grief people (or Bort), can't you come up with your own original team names? j/k LOL

I think the values go with the highest ranked team, so I'll have to look up the values for the others if people are interested.

Thanks,
StickMan
