Harris is just starting to lose it...Woodson might have to make the move to safety soon. Collins is solid, Bigby is dr jekyll and mr hyde out there, but when hes on hes on. I know we brought in some of the best to teach the defense...but it doesnt mean that it translates quickly. Still a lot of if's out there. We might be alright...but i think MN is right now a step ahead of us especially if Favre comes back healthy. Chicago still needs a WR. Lions still need a team.

Raji has been playing well in camp, they even have him playing the ends to see how he does and so far they say hes doing alright. Altho hes still not under contract. As for Mathews, who else could we have taken? Id rather have Mathews than Cushing or Maualuga. Ayers and Curry were gone. Lauranautis is good but id still take Mathews. I know its tough to transition into the 34 but i think we will be alright.

If Chicago brings in Burress, that adds alot for them. Lions, meh. Vikes, will see, i dont see them ahead of us right now and Favre is still a big question mark.

kind of surprised so many people like the Packers for the division this season. New defensive scheme, still a lot of if's on the oline and an aging secondary with some young talent, but not great talent. The running game is still kind of a question mark. Pass game of course is still there, but that alone won't win a ton of ball games. Would be nice to see...but im not counting on anything yet.

Well i am a Packers fan and have been for the last almost 20 years.

The Defensive scheme will be fine. We've got one of the better guys to teach it in Capers, throw in a few ex Steelers for position coaches, 2 great pickups in the draft to fill the needs of the D. Just need to stay healthy this season. Secondary may be aging but still have 2 of the better CBs in the league, still waiting for more of the young guys to step up but Tramon Williams is showing that he might be the guy. Nick Collins coming off a Probowl season, Bigby is back. Running game will be fine. Oline will be the biggest question mark, hopefully guys like Jamon Merideth step up.

I fucking hate you... TONS of good points and well stated.

Dammit...

Viks with favre = division plus NFC Championship Game... Link it, print it, post it.
He'll have a better team with him than he's had in almost a decade. He carried the Packers for much of the last 5+ years he was there... I'm not gonna analyze it all b/c you Packer-backers will know better than me... but he hasn't had a SOLID team. The Viks really are... sure there's questions, but EVERYONE has questions. ALWAYS. The Viks q's are small and unimportant.

As for Harvin, he would've gone a LOT (8-12 spots) higher if he didn't 'fail' his drug test...
He's a dimension the Viks have been missing from their WR corps...
Favre makes EVERY WR better, if he has the time to throw, which he will with our O line.
Ahh... done arguing... season will tell.

But Favre = Purple come mid-July & Training Camp

Ahhh Vikes fans, they are always full of water and vinegar during the preseason. But i guess when you havent won anything, EVER, you will look for hope in anything.

How did this thread get derailed so badly anyway?

With the exception of Calvin Johnson, WR's generally take about 3 years to really come in and produce, and I don't see anything that suggests Harvin to be any different...

Crabtree on the other hand I can see possibly excelling a bit quicker.

Harvin will be solid...he might not come into his own until around next season sometime (for sure if Favre is still alive and kicking in MN), but he will come around before 3 years if he is any good. The WR's that generally take awhile to pan out are usually taken on good teams who already have solid WR's. Or just flat out have a worthless offense around them. You have to admit tho...Harvin is just one of so many weapons on the Vikings right now and any opposing defense is completely hanging on the hopes that Favre doesnt add a passing game to that offense.

I love all of these Minnesota fans getting riled up because they're actually getting a real QB since Cullpepper's prime. Sadly they fail to realize they wouldn't past the first round of the playoffs with Favre and surely not without Favre.

I'm a Giants fan and my players bring guns to nightclubs (though I should say ex-members). So what do I know anyways?

I just personally think many Viking fans are over rating the impact Favre would have.

He's old, coming off surgery, and the NFC North knows him well.

One of so many weapons...............LOL.

Who do they have as a weapon aside from AD? Harvin may be good but i have a feeling hes gonna be one of those guys that just disappears when he gets to the NFL.

But true, this is better than talking about GLB preseason.

On the contrary, hes wise, likely becoming rejuvenated from the surgery, and know the NFC North VERY WELL. Especially their biggest road block in GB.

You do not believe Sidney Rice or Bernard Berrian to be weapons? Bernard Berrian has had great seasons with Rex Grossman, Kyle Orton, Gus Frerotte, and Tarvaris Jackson passing to him...give the guy someone who can sling the rock and he will be solid. Favre thrives with these speed guys. Sidney Rice needs to stay healthy tho.

Most of them never get a chance to. And maybe Harvin won't either...or maybe he will be another Eddie Royal.
