It's not even worth trying to get something fixed anymore. When you do, something else just gets broken worse. We are best off accepting the brokenness because everytime it's "fixed", it comes away even worse. But hey, at least Bort made it so a DE can get a sack every once in awhile.

seems to be a bit more of a balance this year with the sacks. but the lineman pancakes are still pretty high. it's getting there...

1. Back off some of the overpowered VA's-Freaking big heart is just crazy. 30% increase to ALL SKILLS if you have it at 15. That's out of hand. Even better Lose the VA's entirely

2. The OT-DT dynamic is still over powered for the O. There needs to be a middle ground.

3. Give teams other ways to earn some cash. The finances at our level is a nightmare. This is coming from an owner that has had the full stadium and a load of home playoff games and will still be short on getting my entire roster 56 EQ.

The sacks are due to the QB vision nerf, not actually fair line play.

i like going back to seasons 2-3 and looking over the game and scores. Least for our league and games (Orlando Pirates), games were really competitive, running the score up would be like winning 59-0, and there was hardly any complaining. Just good ol fashioned who gameplanned better than who.

and we thought players were overpowered then...

I think at least 'part' of all of these high scores is people tinkering too much with the D-Creator.

Bort prooves that 'nothing is too bad that can't get worse'...

definitely. I think this season we made a p good improovement overall, we seriously need 2 things to be fixed asap tho:

kick returns (either you think that they are too good, too bad, too fumbles, too many yards or whatever, to me they are just weird overall)

CBs overjumping

After those 2 things, we shall have a good sim. Not great, still have a lot of issues tbh, but it'd be good already imo.

Here's a little different idea about how to fix the obviously screwed VA system. I suggested this a few seasons back and 250+ pages ago on the suggestions forum, before they ever were introduced. The original suggestion is still there somewhere, no way am I digging through 300+ pages to find it though.

Instead of having a ton of VAs to choose from (opening up a bottomless can of worms) give each player one additional bonus SA called Veteran at around level 35-40. Players should not be allowed to invest anything in Veteran, instead it raises in value as the player matures/levels up. Perhaps something along the lines of an additional level of Veteran for every 5 levels the player gains.

The Veteran SA should give players a realistic bonus to foot ball knowledge (vision) akin to actual players gaining an understanding of of the game based on experience. A .05% bonus to vision per level of Veteran to all players as a base accompanied by other small attribute and situational bonuses fitting to that players position, somewhat similar to current VAs. The bonuses based on position should balance each other out. For example a WR and a CB both gain .03% speed and agility and the standard .05% vision as well as the WR gaining a 5% chance to re roll a dropped pass and the CB getting a 5% chance at re rolling a missed pass deflection.

That's just the basic idea. To encourage diversity in builds you could give players a choice of four or five Veteran SA kits to choose one of, or maybe even let the players build their own kits out of a given set of attribute and situational bonuses that pertain to the position. If players were allowed to choose what they wanted I don't think allowing them to change their minds at a later date would be a good idea.

I believe that not allowing players to use VA points in a manner similar to Attribute points would drastically reduce the ability of them to be over powered and cut down the cheese factor significantly.

Add more diversity to building players.

Once (if) this game gets out of Beta we should totally revamp the way players are built. The current handful of attributes we can choose from are just too limited. Acceleration should be separated from agility and vision should be separated from football knowledge in particular.

Furthermore, and more importantly, the logarithmic curve at which we level up and skill points are assigned should be raised as should the soft cap values. When your player is in his eighth season and you are spending over five dollars real money to buy 15 flex points so you can get maybe three or four points higher in a main attribute it's hardly worth it. Players are feeling ripped off by the amount they have to spend just to get a minuscule bonus to their characters' performances at the peak of their careers.

Running style slider for kickoff/punt returners that are on the depth chart in those positions.

Pretty self explanatory really, running backs and wide receivers don't go into return mode once they have the ball in their possession on offense. It's ruining a lot of good production for some players, especially running backs.

Elusive backs should have the sense to avoid the DEs when space allows, instead of cutting up right next to them and being tkled 90% of the time they do.

Returns needs to be fixed, and it's not an issue of dedicated returns teams. This is huge, IMO. Every KO that isn't a TB is being returned to between the 35-50, and that's when they are contained. That occurs with teams with and without ST specs on the return team. Hell, it even happens when they aren't using good blockers and going against a coverage team stacked with coverage specialists, amped on speed. For every return brought out to the 50, there should be 3 or more stopped on the 20 or less. I honestly can't even remember the last return that was stopped inside the 20. It just doesn't ever happen.

None of this will matter unless all the fluff is taken away. I'm sorry Hazy, but I tend to agree with TSE. Absolutely none of this will matter anyway. Bort will do what he wants to do. He flat out said that in his GLB radio interview. Unfortunately. he likes all the bells and whistles and they aren't going away. Because they add a complexity he can't handle, nothing good will come of any of this. As a matter of fact, odds are even better that anything he tries to address here will just make things even worse.

Flat out, he needs a real staff of professional programmers, testers (no offense) and support staff. That none of that will happen either.

A lot of this I think is caused by over powered head fakes. Unlike in real life, where players will not fall for head fakes unless they are up close to the ball carrier, coverage man will slow down 20 yards a way from the returner and start to dance with him. And while they are dance around instead of trying to make the tackle, they get blocked again.

Also blocking on the return game is way too overpowered. OL can hold on to coverage man forever. The truth is it's very difficult to hold blocks against a guy running full speed at you. When the guy is running full speed at you and you go up and block him, usually 3 things happen, you pancake him, he pancakes you, or you miss the block. You DO NOT stop the guy cold in his tracks and continue to hold him for hours.

I just don't think Bort knows what it's like to carry the ball or return kicks in football. Return man that dances around trying to juke people will get killed in real football, you make one cut and go up field, bad things happen when you dance in place.

Bort probably has never played any real football for that matter, so he has no clue how it should in a lot of areas. He probably learned football through Tecmo ball or Madden.

Get rid of VA's. They were a cute concept that has failed miserably. They are "tweaked/nerfed/changed" every season since they have come out because they're screwed up and overpowered.

Someone made a suggestion to do a "VA tree" - which would work similar to the SA tree's we have now where you need to work one of them up before you can move onto the next one. That's probably not a bad idea and can help eliminate some of the explotive VA's being used in conjunction with one another.

Sounds like a great idea, but I think it's too complex for Bort to implement it right.

I seriously would enjoy some additional player tactics based on circunstances. As for example for a CB "when the team is winning by ____ use this settings" (same goes for losing and etc)

Because, seriously, it seems really easy to do and would help a lot on the gameplan.

It blows my mind that there aren't tons of scenario based tactics tabs for players. The tools are there, just create tabs for 1st down, 2nd and short, 3rd and long, etc etc.

Most agents/players would probably welcome more tactics they could influence. Instead of piling on more crap for unpaid coordinators to do.
