The games you list are all pretty much based on hand eye coordination not a build v build system in which none of the info is really given out. I can guess at what the best build is. But really with only 16 games to play and having to build from scratch every time and pay for those tests you can barley come up with anything for sure. While someone who can run a sim every 2 hours can gather an awful lot in a very short period of time. Like WR ag over 80 being counter productive for instance. There are some games that by the look of them that is exactly what was going on. There was one that had all 100 speed Various AG WR with all stats otherwise the same for instance. Now how much info could you glean from that much more controlled environment. I'd say quite a bit.
I do honestly believe that the testers were testing for the right reasons but you can't just unlearn that stuff. Now that we have the info available it does help but the way it is laid out is frustrating and you can't be sure that the builds were the same from sim to sim and you can't know for sure what they were looking for so that's a lot to filter through. This is a competitive game .and in order for it to remain competitive certain players can't have inside information while others don't If there were more to this game than builds and AI settings it wouldn't be nearly as big an issue but honestly there is just not.
To save time I'll just list the advantages of being a WCIII tester. A thorough list can be given for every game I mentioned.
- More knowledge of which units work and what units don't work.
- Head start on figuring out the proper counters.
- Head start and figuring out what the best build orders are.
- Better knowledge of item drops.
- Better knowledge of which creeps to hit first.
- Advanced knowledge on which heroes work the best.
- Head start on gaining experience for tournaments. A video game usually "peaks" in it's first three months. This is why tournaments like the Madden Challenge are held only two months after release. I've never seen nor do I ever expect to see a GLB cash tournament
Edit: I forgot to mention the reason why that post has any relevance lol

. The bottom line is that getting tester data is just as important for games with "hand eye coordination" as it is for games like GLB. Keep in mind that all the testers were not able to reset the builds of their character, even with inside knowledge they were only able to adjust their builds accordingly for one season, they were not granted a reset. I am not denying it is an advantage, I'm just saying people are blowing that advantage out of proportion.
