Great job on reporting Shelby, Chicago, Pelland etc...

the more honest reports of properly build DEs with good combos of Str/Spd/Agil/SAs getting totally shut down that we can put here...the better chance we have of getting changes made!

My DE is up to 11 sacks now...10 against gutted/much-lower teams...none in 2nd half of gutted team games.

Last season my DE puts up 90% of his sacks against gutted OTs, and just 10% against competition. I said to myself, wow Bort really done a great job here. Then this season came along....

My DE has an excellent balance of str/spd/agility, and has soft cap Vision, Stamina, Tackling. Don't know what else Bort wants us DE owners to do to make a solid DE.

DL is a big part of a defense stopping the offense. If GLB is going to turn into this 65-44 games where QB passes 50-70 times a game what's that point of playing.

IMO, Bort needs to implement "Holding" penalties next season. I have a DE Level 37 with 6 tackles, 2 hurries, 1 sack and averages 42 ppg. I have watched film and it appears he is getting held on several plays.

I was thinking that as well on my DT too , penalties would be nice. But again it's hard as hell to tell what these stinking dots are doing anyway. o_0

None of us do. i would suppose that most of us in this thread are GLB agents "in the know" and have well balanced builds to go along with our main stat which we chose to pump up (usually spd or agi).

But nobody has a report anywhere, from any league of a DE build that can be successfull in season 7 against comparable opponents.

If you picture in your mind's eye a DE in the NFL that has the GLB equivalent of 95 agil/70 spd/60 str and tons of SA skills...I picture a guy like Jevon Kearse from 1999.

...and then you picture that Kearse clone completely unable to shed a block or beat a tackle around the corner...

...unless he's playing a college team from division III in which case he can get 2 or three sacks and then get so tired that he can barely move...

That's how I feel this season.

I saw a thread claiming that they thought the DEs were fixed... I've got no evidence of that.

You went up against 3 OTs that are better than you. You simply got outplayed.

so if i have mid 90's agility (+ VA quick), mid 70's speed, mid 60's str, capped vision, capped stamina, capped tackling and a whack of SAs...

...i should never get a sniff of even a tackle let alone a hurry or a sack??

no way. in all past seasons, i could shed blocks-despite being outlevelled 3-8 levels-...this season i'm super glued as well as slowed down.

agreed. i should be able to shed blocks with my agi/SAs/str...but i can't. you for sure should be able to.

it's as if GLB defensive ends have never heard of the rip, the swim, the club etc...

Ok, I've posted for the cause of the DE long enough for you guys to know where I'm coming from. But to complaint that your DE should still put up numbers, even against OTs 3-8 levels higher, is pushing the issue. Accept the fact you simply got schooled, the way you can currently school OTs 3-8 lvls lower than yours now. Stop whining further on why your DE has a god-given right to still put up tackles and sacks against equal or better competition. It's very realistic to the NFL that sometimes the best of the DE simply got shut down by a OT that happens to be on a great day. It happens to everyone. It happens to Lawrence Taylor, Michael Strahan, and it will happen to your cookie-cutter build.

Some games you will be able to put up numbers against better competition, most games not, that's GLB, that's numerical calculations, that's your DE.

Please. It seems we are finally having some credibility with Bort, we don't need this kind of requests to get our enemies ammunition "see, they are just a bunch of sack nuts"

Today's the next litmus test for my DE:

I have 8 levels on the LOT (26 to my 34) he's got 110 pancakes this season.

Relevant stats on my side:
Str in 60's
Speed in 70's
Agil in 80's
Vision in the 40's

All Containment SA's over 5 except for Big Sack.

I have cranked up the blitz % on the ROLB and have an equal level DT lining up next to me to try and open hole or free one of us up.

My wager: 2 hurries / 0 sacks.

Over/under anyone?

Actual output of the game: http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=333698

2 Hurries / 2 Sacks

So a slight improvement..

So your level 35 DE has 13 sacks...7 came against 1 gutted team...3 against an OT with 30 speed.

So when my DE faces off against an OT (regardless of level) who has 85 str, 70 blocking, 40 speed and 40 agility... why is it that his strength and blocking (which trump my mid 60's str) are the only deciding factor?
Why is his str being 25 more than mine such an overwhelming advantage while having 50 more agi and 25 more speed is no advantage at all?

You're seriously saying that you think DEs can shed blocks? It doesn't look to you like they're totally being held?

I didn't say there's no problems, but one step at a time. We have our improvement, enjoy it while it lasts. I have a fear we haven't heard the end of DE nerfing.

Landed 1 sack with my Speed DE today against a LV 42 OT. That is 3 meaningful sacks on the year for him.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=291866&pbp_id=9361357

Carl Knockdown had 2 hurries in last game and was shutout today. I am not looking for multiple sack games but a few tackles would be nice.

Are strength DEs viable yet? With VPs in Heavyweight etc. They'd probably be poor against 'badly' built OTs with ridiculous strength and no agility, but good against well built OTs who've balanced strength with agility etc. Provided they work at all that is.
