For VA's like Power Tackler, that give +2% bonus on FF's. How do we know what our base force fumble stat is? Is there a formula involving the strength and tackling attributes?

I may be wrong, but I don't think formulas like that get released.

This is my thinking also, because I dont know what this is, I have to stay away. What if I only had a 10% chance to cause a fumble how much benefit is a 10% bonus to a 10% chance?

Some of the speculative ones sound nice but I gotta go with the proven, I wanna keep my speed up and I like the 2nd wind giving me a boost to my stamina which helps my outplay my opponent

track star and second wind for me

Yeah, you'd go from 10% to 10.2%.

It's probably more like 2% to 2.04% though.

Personally for FS I think zone specialist still has to be #1.

At least where my FS plays, cover 0 is very rare. So, he should be in zone 95% of the time or more.

On run plays, I'm fine with my FS not getting a bonus. If the ball carrier gets to my FS on a run play its usually because a LB has missed a tackle.

The most important part for my FS is pass defense. I basically look at him as an extra CB that always plays zone.

It would cost 45 VPs to have speed/agi/vision at 15% all the time.
It costs 15 VPs to have the same bonuses on 90% of the time I care about them.

I agree. Plus, you get to use your vision/speed/agility bonus to read and react to the run play before it gets really going, so it still helps on run plays. Also, it doesn't help after the receiver catches the ball, but with the bonuses you should be in better position to make the tackle. If you're a good FS, you're not chasing people down all over the field anyways.

I think second wind is a great ability, good idea going with it.

Math isn't one of your strengths. A 10% bonus to a 10% chance would give you an 11% chance. This isn't even hard math, how can you not manage base ten?

Every FF and Int tends to be a game-changing play, so I'd say that's pretty good, mate.

About half of FFs are picked up again by the offense, right?

surprised you dont have Zone specialist for FS ..... not disagreeing, just like to know your thinking .....I was very tempted by it

If you think about it, teams run say 50% of the time, making zone specialist work for only about half of a second for the play. The other 50%, they pass. If at any point you break zone or are playing man, the bonuses end.

If the bonuses stayed for the entire play, no questions asked, the bonus would be great and well worth it. But essentially a 15% bonus to base vision (speed and agility boosts will actually take you further from the play for that initial time backing into your zone) ONLY when in zone and for the most part, only for about half a second is passable or at least can be put off until AFTER more important boosts.

Personally, I put my first 20 points as 10 in Track Star and 10 in Sure Tackler.

Reference?

For a SS, Show Boat + Jackhammer looks like a good combo. If a successful Jack Hammer = PD.

thats a very good point, but i think it would count as a 'drop'

cause thats how it counts in real football. If a receiver gets hit hard right after he 'catches' it and drops it, the defensive player is not awarded a PD... it just ends up being one of those 'intangibles' that doesn't go down in the stat books

Bort says a successful jackhammer counts as a PD.

Sutff like Jackhammer should definitely show up, as it's basically a big hit, or a monster hit.

Other things like rerolls should remain undetected, though.

Hm, I didn't think about putting jackhammer in the PBP. Maybe something like "pass deflected (jackhammer)" or something?

So Jackhammer is a PD and not a forced fumble?

Yeah - it's a bonus to hitting the guy as he catches the ball to jar it loose (which is not a fumble if he doesn't have control)
