So...this thread took a bad turn.

I don't get the line of thinking that "AAA is a 'lesser' conference". It's not.

At this moment there is virtually no difference in teams that are in Pro compared to AAA, or even AA or A. All of the teams pretty much started at the same time and there are teams who have overall ratings of 30, 27, and 24 in any of those divisions. The only difference between them is that one guy bought his team at a certain time(and got a higher division) and the other guy bought it a few days later (and had to get a team in a lower division). That's about it.

It will take several seasons for there to be any noticeable difference in the quality of teams from one division to the next (all the poorly run teams need to eventually get filtered to the bottom and vice versa for the really good teams). With such a small number of teams moving per season (only 4 *total* [2 up, 2 down] from Pro to AAA), it will take a good bit of time. Like someone said, there are numerous teams in AAA who could be competitive in Pro... but I'll expand that and say there are probably numerous teams in AA and A who would also be competitive in Pro, they just happened to start lower than others and will thus take a few seasons to move up (since you can only move up one league per season, and sometimes there are numerous good teams in a division and not all of them can move up at once).

For example (after a quick search that only took a few seconds) I found the San Francisco Fire in USA A #6 have comparable overall stats (possibly even better stats) than USA Pro's Washington Bullets.

There's a difference. For one, 80% of the teams in USA Pro weren't bought. And all of the top players in USA Pro were created on Day 0 of season one. Does that mean AAA teams can't compete? No, not at all. Utopia is doing well for themselves, and the Bullets are respectable, but there is a difference. It's the most pronounced in the top 15 or so teams, and there are some inactive owners that need to be filtered out (tiancxo, I'm talking to you), but the top teams in USA Pro are the best teams in GLB. No question about it.
