I like McCain but their campaign was awful.

Very true. Only campaign that has ever been worse was Guilianis.

Ah yes. Democrats, as classy in victory as they are in defeat.

Tell me, did you actually look into what Obama stands for, or did you just say "Ohh, he's black and a Democrat, let me show how enlightened I am by voting for him!"

Dumbass.

No I voted for McCain because he agrees more with my views on more topics than Obama.
Aha, I see....You voted for McCain, because you agreed more with his views, while anyone who voted for Obama, did so because he's black and they thought it would be cool, not because they agreed with his views.

Interesting.

Personally, I don't (or didn't) really care as far as the 2 pres. candidates went, I didn't vote (international voting is a pain). My views were pretty split between the two. But the fact that McCain picked Palin showed me that he was unfit to be president. Either he is unfit to make important decisions himself, or he can be pressured by those around him to make the wrong decisions.....either way, it comes out the same.

I'm just happy we finally have an intelligent human being back in the white house.

I was just responding to the fact that the original poster stated that he voted "to at least cancel out one ignorant redneck's vote". That didn't seem like a very good reson to vote for the most powerful office in the world. Where did I say that ANYONE who did that did it for race reasons? Either you're trying to put words in my proverbial mouth, or your reading comprehension is low.

I asked him specifically why he voted for Obama. If he had said "Well, Obama and I agree as far as [insert reason here]" I would have respected his decision. However, he decided to slander anyone who dared disagree with him, and I decided to call him on it. He had no reason to refer to a McCain voter as an "ignorant redneck" except out of spite and ignorance.

So let's all stop throwing shit and get to the question.

May I ask you about the main reasons, in your opinion, why people should have voted for McCain?

I'm really curious.

I haven't been involved with this debate previously but for me personally, I primarily voted on the following issues.

Abortion: This should be a state's issue.
National Security: I believe that McCain has more experience and would be more effective in a real military crisis.
Parent's Rights: These are continually under attack even here in Texas.
Freedom of Speech: The push to renew the Fairness Doctrine is real and has already begun.
Free Trade: I don't believe socialism works long term.
Balance in Washington: I do not like the idea of either party having a super majority.

Having said all that, I think Obama is a much much better choice than Clinton, even though Clinton's policies are actually very close to McCain's, and I'm going to do my best to give him a chance to follow through on his promises.

when did i ever say that all mccain supporters are ignorant rednecks? maybe YOUR reading comprehension is low. i guess you never watched any of those mccain rallies where the people were calling obama a nigger and a terrorist? those are the conservatives i'm talking about. but of course you didnt ask me to elaborate, you just jumped on me. and i did say i had other reasons for voting for him other than 'because he's black'. so before you go accusing people of having low reading comprehension, maybe you should try out reading for yourself sometime

You're right, you obviously made a differentiation between intelligent McCain supporters and "ignorant redneck" supporters in that post. Oh wait, no you didn't. And if you had these reasons, why didn't you say them instead of being inflammatory? That's why I asked you about it. I asked you if you voted for him because you looked into his policies, or if you did it as a kneejerk reaction "to make history" or some such stupid reason.

This never happened. Not once. If it had, it would be all over the news and/or the internet and McCain would have been the first person to castigate the offending party. He is many things that hard core liberals don't like but a racist is not one of them. He raised legitimate questions about Obama's past associations, questions that in some cases took away from the discussion on more significant issues, but no such rally as described above took place to my knowledge.

youre right about one thing, mccain WAS the first to castigate the offending party, but youre wrong about the offensive remarks at rallies never happening. theres some videos of a rally that was held in minnesota that got pretty out of hand with the racial insinuations from some of the supporters.

A very disturbing video no doubt but I still didn't see anything but a few specific, isolated interviews. There absolutely are ignorant people in this nation, on both sides on this election, as well as in every country I've ever visited, lived in or heard/read about, but this is still not a McCain or Palin rally where racial slurs were tolerated which was the impression given by the statement PirateCalvin made.

I thought it was good, kinda like he was emphasising that it wasn't just a campaign slogan, it was a big part of his what he believes in.

I thought both McCain and Obama spoke really well.

I thought it sounded like Bob the Builder.....

Well different people get different things out of the same speech fella, stick with Bob if that's your bag

i dont think anyone said that racial slurs or terrorist accusations were TOLERATED at rallies, but they did happen.
