We quickly found out that we were in over our heads in AAA.

How so? Here is an undefeated team in AAA. Their players are not above and beyond the ones that came over. http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=701

Once Mamba found his new team, he told us where he was going. I had offers for both of my players from Al, along with countless others. I thought that it would be fun to try to keep a group of guys together, so I signed one of my players to Chattanooga. The other I signed to an offer that impressed me. Some players did the same - asked for a release from the Mambas and followed Mamba here.

I don't even understand the joining of Chattanooga at all. It's like a bunch of college guys that never get srafted to play pro ball decide to go and try to play high school ball again...

Mamba signing "Chad Heetland" into this league is a total joke. A level 17 WR which is at a higher level than basically all AAA receivers is a total joke!!!

Personally, I don't think you were cheating, but you clearly lacked good decision making skills.

I liked the atmosphere of Chattanooga and I see why Mamba went there. None of us paid a ton of attention to this game so we clearly aren't as invested as the guys complaining here. I personally didn't think much of it myself.

Now I will ask for my release since it has caused so much controversy, and I'll make sure not to join the same team as Mamba. But I will say that I would have liked to keep the group of guys together and if there are rules against such thing it seems counter-intuitive to growth of the game.

If you all really wanted to stay together, you had some options.

You could of all stayed on your current team w/ a new owner.. if you sucked so back that you finished last, you would have been moved down to AA anyways.

You could of all started a new team next season starting from scratch and it still would of been fun since you were all together.

again this explanation sounds innocent enough but the entire thing was far to coordinated to make me believe it. ten players all gaining release and all resigning to the same day to the same team implies coordination which is off course is collusion's step sister with which they are having some kind of disgusting affair. furthermore did you not see how badly this deal was going to muck up the system? did you not see that your players should have been traded for in a balanced way instead of the dump and sign manner by which your players did move? i dont know how you guys couldnt see this.

Yes, that is correct, and it is how intellectual debate works, not to mention trials.

Because the statement that if one statement is proven false they all a re is also a logical fallacy. In fact one couldl be wrong and the rest are true. And since there exists no proof that they are false they must be acccepted as true on thier face. I suggest you take a Logic 101 course as this is all covered in that class.

I guess my mathematical background is to blame for my logic ignorance. In mathematics, you must prove something is correct instead of just state it is so. That prevents you from going off on wild tangents and using incorrect assumptions from step 1.

I'll look into that class. I'd like to learn more about making random and wild accusations but still be able to consider myself correct until someone proves otherwise. Should be fun.

Mattyp,

The issue is there has been an ongoing problem in the game concerning the gutting of teams in order to benefit other teams in lower level leagues. There is an entire 65 page thread in the announcments section dealing with it. That thread was started by the game's designer.

Perhaps unknowingly what you and your friends did was exactly what others have been doingintentionally, take players from a higer level team, buy/gm/negotiate with a team in a much lower league and bring them all down and them dominate that league. It hurts the integrity of those leagues, because it ruins the competition in both leagues.

It is a serius enough issue for the man responsible for designing this game to start a thread discussing how to deal with it. It is certainly not what he intended to happen.

Well I can't speak for others but I can say for myself that I had no idea that the move would cause such an uproar.

I thought as much, so I thought I would try and explain the uproar.

Let me ask you this Lef Grebo is it cheating to ask a team for a game plan if your team has beat this team you are about to play?

Wow, That is a great question! Lets see if I can talk it out. Now in the real world, coaches will share game films with each other, and even give one another pointers about how to deal with a team. But not whole game plans. So I guess it would beok to say, hey I had success running the ball against team X, while maybe not such a good idea to provide them with an entire game plan.

In fact that may be more beneficial in the long run. Game plans take into account what are the strengths and weaknesses of your team v the other team. My strengths may not be your strengths so my gameplan may not work for you. But if I said hey I noticed team Y runs the ball up the gut more often then around the edges, that could prove useful, and I really do not think it would be unethical. I am open to a different opinion though.

Would this be cheating for your GM to e-mail me this, so you could beat a team I beat.

Okay so I was curious if you could share your defensive plan for when you beat chattanooga, I already have our set and it probably won't change much But I am curious to see if I was headed in the right direction for trying to shut down their offense. They are trying to jump ahead by using a bunch of high levels players but you guys have proven that they can be beaten.

Wow, yea that is out of line. I did not know he did that. He is new and this is his first GM/DC job. Going to have to straighten him out. Although I would have preferded you sent me this persoanlly as soon as it happened rather then save it to use later in a public forum, I am glad to know it happened. Of course your response could have been much as I mentioned, saying you noticed this tendency and tried to shut that down. The issue here is one of language more then intent I think. Rather then asking for you gameplan he shoulod have simply asked you how you did it. There is nothing unethicalabout asking advice.

Dear F'ing god.

Theres another saying, putting words into other peoples mouths makes you a dickhead

And that is what is called an ad hominen attack. The last resort of a defeated individual. Unable to come up with any intelligent germain reply, he must resort to personal attacks. In more common internet parlance, it is called a /meltdown...

DOH!! HE DID NOT JUST GO AD HOMINEN! DID HE JUST GO AD HOMINEN? OH YEAH HE DO OH YEAH HE DO! Damn man this is great. I get too much practice debating like you are at work to match your game right now. I try to dumb things down on the weekends. Thanks for carrying the torch.

yea, it appears all coincidental with you. I just found it funny that all 25 of those players were traded to those 3 teams in one day. And I know that the trading that happened there wasn't coincidental and it was all more of a farm system thing going on. It was funny because I played that team and then the next day when I went to write up a post game summary, none of the same players were on the team. And if farm systems are legal, then I need to get me one of those lol. Making a couple new guys in the D-league just isn't working out. They seem to be getting 20 plays per game if they are lucky.

oh no you misunderstand me. when i said coincidental i meant in reference to the roster / player owner commonalities with the assassins. looking at the players on your list i think the farm team assessment is dead on. but the only thing the assassins are farming is wins, and well to be frank a couple players may be farming less than legal herbal remedies but i cant be held accountable for that.

Gee math sure has changed since I went to school. Let's apply this to scientific theory. You can disprove one hypothesis and that disproves all hypothosis' in an entire therom? I'd hate to see where we would be if that were true. And take the class, you might actually learn how the algorithms you use in your everyday life were worked out. Unless they no longer use Logic in Math, its been 20 years since I was in college....

All I have got to say is: I'm glad I didn't spend money on this game. If I did I might have become a big whiner like everyone here. You guys take this game way too seriously.

Yeah, I went ad hominem. And a little slippery slope as well...

what like if bill parcells asked bill bellichek his game plan before playing the jets or something? i dont know why anyone would do that but i would say its not cheating since i am not aware of any rule against such a thing. however, i would say that would be giving an unfair advantage to one team over another and thus a bit unethical. i guess that would depend also on the nature of the information passed. if it was 'these are the successful tactics settings' that is highly questionable. if one owner pm'd another and said hey what advice do you have for when i play so and so i dont necessarily see anything wrong with that.

We were overmatched because Mamba didn't have the time to be an effective coach/manager.

If you think it's a joke then fine. I personally didn't know that there was such a big gap in talent between the leagues.

Basically I don't spend enough time on this game to care that much. And I think I am finished arguing. If you all want to bitch and moan more, go ahead. Draw your own conclusions. In fact the incessant holier-than-thou namecalling attitude actually makes me want to stay on the Quarantine.

how in the world could you infer that i have been taking this too seriously given the content of my various rants? if you are referring to the logic heretofore laid before you as being too serious well i guess that proves you have standards that allow your conscience to cheat at chutes and ladders against 4 year olds but the rest of the drek, no way.

A hypothesis is a suggested explanation/reasonable proposal. In no way shape or form is it any sort of proof. The person making the hypothesis should work towards proving his/her hypothesis.

If said person only creates the hypothesis, but does no work to further the cause, what credibility does that person have? In my estimation, little to none. What good is a explanation/proposal/guess if there is no evidence to back it up?

Furthermore, when all the hypotheses are connected and 1 is cast in doubt, the originator should go back and reevaluate the entire set. He/she may provide further proof that the direction is valid. If he cannot or will not provide that detail, that branch of reasoning will most likely be discarded until someone else champions the cause.

Anyway, I'm off to bed. Feel free to continue arguing.
