Terrible, terrible pick. They were doing so well up until that point, but you had to know that Rick Smith was going to Rick Smith it up at some point...

That said, I REALLY like the first four picks - Nix and the guard from UCLA were absolute steals and the TE from Iowa looks like he could be really good. I'm also fully on board with the Pagan pick.

As long as you have a steady supply of large scary dudes in the trenches, you're going to win a lot of games in the NFL.

Don't know a thing about the running back from LSU. Watched them play plenty and don't recall hearing his name one time.

Reality kicked them in the ass and took a piss on them as they laid curled in the fetal position.

A final parting shot to Mack Brown. He is a classy man and a gentleman, but either outlived his usefulness or more accurately IMO, was in the right place at the right time for more than a decade.

vj sums this up succinctly and with feeling:

Today, the University of Texas had as many players selected in the NFL draft as motherfucking Hogwarts despite having the #2 ranked recruiting class in 2010. I believe Mack also pulled in top 5 classes in 2011 and 2012 as well. Before today, UT had a player selected in each of the last SEVENTY-SIX NFL drafts.

Player development - how does it work?

One final time with feeling: fuck you, Mack Brown. And especially fuck the "work" you did during your last four years while you were robbing an athletic department blind.

Fozzy has one functioning leg and VY's career ended 4 years ago, but one has had the heart to tell him.

I have no idea if you're my age, older than me, or much younger, so I'm just going to refer to you as "son" in typical southern parlance. So, here goes:

Son,

I cheered for the Red Sox in the 80's and 90's, the Whaler's in the 80's and 90's and the Patriots during the dark years before God (the devil?) gave his only begotten son to Robert Kraft in the form of Bill Belichek. Before Texas, my college football team was Clemson, after they had to to run Danny Ford out of town for nearly getting them SMU'd.

Back when I was growing up, the only local sports team worth a damn was the Celtics. And I don't even like basketball.

In sum, nothing you can say, do, or point out about any of my favorite sports teams will even phase me because my first real sports memory involves a ground ball rolling between Bill Buckner's legs. As the teams I cheer for go, the Longhorns are one of the more successful. That said, they're in a dark place right now, but TRUST ME, watching a successful re-build is almost as fun as winning a title.

And now for the cheap shot: as an Aggie, I know you can empathize with what I'm saying about just how much fun the re-building process can be. Just not the part about actually winning a title.

I was 9 years old when that ball rolled through Buckner's legs, and I was jumping up and down because I becmae a Mets fan in Houston a year earlier when I discovered MLB and liked Darryl Strawberry's swing

And I totally disagree about how fun a re-build can be. It is not fun. At all. It is torture. I give the sips hell now because I had to hear it for the past 15 years or so. Now not only is the shoe on the other foot, but y'all are at a permanent competitive disadvantage playing rec league ball in the Big XII.

By the beginning of next season, there may be more Aggies in the NFL than longhorns, and we are the only school to have someone drafted in the top 10 the past 4 years. All we heard was how we would be a doormat and liekly not win a conference game, and instead we have more recognition than ever, are pulling in talent like the sips did during their best years, are constructinig the finest stadium and facilities in the country, and will forever have the draw of playing in the SEC as a trump card.

I still stand by my argument that football in the state of Florida is superior to that in Texas

How long is A&M going to "rebuild"? Will they actually win a title in the next 5-7 years? Personally, I think they FALL this year from what they were last year...that to me, is not rebuilding.

HS football in Texas is king, then you have either Florida or California, depending on the season. Texas HS football players receive more D1 scholarships than any other state. Typically California is second. Georgia is 4th fwiw.

As far as college teams go, Florida is indeed the top state with FSU, FL, Mia, UCF, USF, etc

Numbers...I hate numbers...but regardless, approximately 340 players went to D1 schools from Texas and approximately 320 from Florida. However, Texas had appx 25 mil people in 2010 and Florida had appx 18 mil. I don't think Texas (per capita) is leading Florida in D1 football stats...but yes, you are right, the schools in Florida heavily dominate those in Texas...

As for high school, according to Max Prep, Florida, Texas and California all had 2 schools in the top 10 with Florida having the #1.

That was brought up by an idiot Tech tard that happens to be on our BOR. Every Aggie I have talked to is pissed he would make such an idiotic statement.

No way in hell that happens.

Really, good player, but if he's the 5'10"-11", 160 lbs player he allegedly is right now, he's got a lot of growing to do before he will be able to handle the college game. You better hope that Allen works out so that Murray can grow this year and take a redshirt year once he gets on campus (assuming he doesn't end up at Oregon).

On a similar note for UT, Jerrod Heard is apparently up to 6'3" and 205 lbs. If the aggies hadn't been cowardly and ran away from UT with their tails between their legs, the Heard/Murray rivalry would have been something cool to see.

LOL, still sticking with the "ran away from tu" reasoning? We offered to play y'all anywhere, anytime and DeLoss turned us down and forbade any teams scheduling us because he was a scared little girl who foresaw the beatings that would be coming
