I have questions regarding Tackling (& strength) once the Wrap-up Nerf kicks in. I know that we won't really know how bad it's going to be until it happens but I have 15 SP to spend tomorrow on each player and I have to decide to soft cap agility/vision & add SAs or seriously bump tackling.

Our 4 safeties missed a joint total of 7 tackles all season in a league that totally dominated us offensively. None of those 7 lead to scores.

I'm a bit afraid how high those stats will rise to. We can't really afford to give up any more scores.

FYI here are the TKL levels of the 4:
FS: 26, 28
SS: 32, 37

My SS has only 28 strength and 30 tkl @ LVL 20 and only missed 2 tackles all season, and that came in the same game. I think agility and vision is where you want to put your points. The opportunity to create turn overs is much more valuable than a missed tackle here or there. Hows your catching and jumping?

Round about where tackling is. Why?

I'm testing out Vision as the #1 priority for a new FS. I'll leave the build open so you can keep an eye on it if you want.

That could be interesting...will it be a even bigger hit to moral, if you can see what is coming early on, but not able/fast enough to do something about it...

Please, no offense, I am curious how this will work out!

Yeah, definitly could be fun to watch, though he might want to think about bumping up speed and agility once vision hits the 3 or 4 point soft cap. At least train it.

I will be interested to see what happens with the focus on agility and tackling going into next season. May have to rework some of this after the scrimmage games.

I started my FS as a high vision player and he could read plays very early. I can't find the plays in my past season, but he would bolt straight toward a RB or FB after the snap if no one was guarding him and got the tackle if it passed it to him (usually was the only player open). I switched all of his equipment to Speed and built it up to get more tackles after I was placed on special teams (buried 3rd on depth chart) so I haven't been able to see the difference in his playing on defense yet, but I know high vision worked well early on.

I added a few things to SAs and Added a Scouting bar and basic build section.

Wanted to see if anyone had any suggested changes to this based on recent changes in the game.

First thing I noticed was not playing on wrap-up tackling made me miss more tackles, especially during the scrimmages.

What do you guys think about safties playing with the tackle setting on force fumble? Have you seen many missed tackles that lead to TDs?

I know that with my ~35 str/tackling I've missed on average 1 tackle a game still. Unless you've got really high attributes there I'd suggest wrap-up always. A safety making a tackle can easily lead to a huge gain.

I'm 37 strength/21 tackling.
1 missed tackles every 3 games.
I have "balanced" on set.

i switched out 4 points from speed & put them into tackling with equipment because of the new sim. i also put 5 points into agility with a boost to pair with the speed. i used to return kicks, hence the high speed #. i am also training my strength up to help with tackling because i've seen low strength guys getting killed in the new sim.

so far he's playing pretty well. i will be soft capping agility, vision & tackling with SA bonuses in super vision, closing speed, wrap up & diving tackle this year.

I pushed str/tack to 30+ in the off-season and that seems to have cut down on missed tackles (/crosses fingers).
It's too risky not to set on wrap-up in our league. Playing against several teams 4-5 levels higher, that's just asking for trouble.
The sim engine might still be kind anyway - my lvl22 just got two FFs on lvl 26-27 HBs while on wrap-up.

I don't see the point of not being on wrap up you can still force fumbles and you won't give up 50 yard TDs twice a year

agreed. safeties should never be set on anything other than wrap up, being the last line of defense and all...
