Agreed!

yeah, its really hard to get people to focus more on blocking than coverage, because blocking has no chance at any bling. and yet blocking is far more position reliant on a specialized build.

per Guppy from page 3: 69 is no where near enough blocking or strength and way too much speed to be an effective blocker

yup, 69 BLK (=80 BLK with S Teamer VA) is not much....he did do OK though in the BW on the kickoff return team though, as you usually just need "speed bump" BLK to disrupt a gunner for a bit til the speedy KR blows on thru the BW....that said he was my last 2 way STOP as the consensus back then went overwhelmingly to gunner or blocker STOP exclusively and two way STOPs went the way of the dinosaur

They are generally useless.

I agree. When you're doing the preparations for team building (and subsequently, dot building to fit the team) it is best to have your ST players focus on one aspect only. So you'll have defensive ST players (tackling and FF gear and all that jazz but either little or no ability to block) and you'll have offensive ST players (blocking being their only focus). When you try to build a dual purpose STOP you end up with a weaker dot overall.

So the next question along this line would be...

How many stops can a team afford?

Last team I was on that even bothered with stops had the full 10 all built by the ST coach, who also had the KR/PR (who was a FB fwiw)

I was the DC, and we just built in some extra Stam in the build guides. It seemed to be working well until our o-line and WRs went AWOL. We had to quit after regional pro... which sucked

Anyone here have a decent build guide for a FB as returner?

it looked like HBs were gonna become free because they got to 2.55 per team, but now its going up

while its possible for a fb to win the mvp, be aware that there is a built in bias against them. back when i was a bugs mod, catch and i had many arguments about it. his side was that i couldnt come up with a single real life fb successful returner. of course my argument was that i'd never seen a 255-0 score at any level IRL.

So what should I make that can win awards? CB or WR?

cb. but alot of that also depends what others are making since stupidly, players are compared by position, not role. so instead of comparing all returners against each other, cb returners are compared to cb returners, hb to hb, etc. the returners i've coached with the most mvps have all been cb, even when most of the HB dominate the other awards. but none of it will matter if you dont build the player to complement the blocking, especially on kr. the vast majority of returners build to maximize their EL, instead of looking at their blockers, so they end up overrunning their blocking.

put when all said and done, you should be co-ordinating with your stc.

It really depends on the OC and DC (or even the team owner) and just what they want on offense and defense. I say that because the more dots they NEED to make their system work, the less dots you have available for pure ST players.

My ideal setup was always to have 2 STOP centers (BW blockers) along with one well built Blocking FB, blocking WR (using the Power arch), and blocking TE (with enough speed to be useful on ST's as well as for the offense). All of these dots (except the STOP Centers) would need to have at least mid 60's stamina and, actually 70 would be super sweet. (Fot the STOP centers mid 60's is fine.)
Defensively I want 2 HH LB's and 2 HH Safeties (one FS one SS). Having two Pass Rushing DE's is also sweet. I prefer LB's to any other defensive dot if you're just going to be a ST player... they're bigger than CB's and Safeties and usually faster than D-linemen. Having these dots (also with 65-70 stamina) makes them both useful on Defense as specialty players and backups but also as ST players too, getting the most out of their value as possible.
I know pushing a higher Stamina means they won't be quite as good as a more normal build but a higher stamina really helps on ST's and makes them usable on defense (same for the offensive dots I mentioned earlier) as well.

rFB http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/player_awards.pl?player_id=4568088

Keep in mind that's from a competitive team, not some lol stat whore

The other part is, it doesn't matter what kind of dot you make if your special teams coach sucks
